If you want some extra power, take the cats off, the engine will breathe alot better.

Oh crap, I hear the garbage truck comming and I haven't gotten the trash out! Oh wait, that's just an LS1 with LT's and no CATS.

With my cutout open it's definitely like a garbage truck sound until my rpms are up over 3K then it just screams. As far as running it through my magnaflow...no it does not sound like a garbage truck.

Try the ol' bernouli's equation ...yeppy right! hehe, no but really those damn cats block the air exiting the system. Its only common sense that there is more free flowing air running through the gutted cats. I took them off mine and installed a race ready's muffler bypass and i get sick top end, and smoked my friend with long tubes...but maybe i have a ringer, or maybe not, but still. When it comes down to getting your emissions done, somebody knows somebody that hook you up

From what I know, a gutted system will be louder. But wont sound as nice, kind of uncontrolled tone to it. I prefer the catted pipes, but if you want all power ( about 5ish rwhp) then go for it.

you do but only in the stl area and its just a computer check for the new cars so as long as you arent throwing codes or running like *** youll pass. i just had to do it and i have no cats but passed with flying colors! i love the way my pacesetters and hooker sounds with no cats.

Much better sound without cats, but it may rasp with an unequal length Y pipe. Id leave the cat shells on there. I recently put mine back on and it cured my rasp. Plus it makes it look like youve got cats.

im plan on an MS3 soon, so would taking them off sound really raspy? My buddy has a 231/237 with LTs, ory, GMMG and it is way too raspy, hes getting a dynomax welded in the I pipe tomm tho, do those rob horsepower compared to cats?

To the people preeching about emissions:

Why are you concerned about emissions yet you have a big ol' LS1 (or similar) engine?

Seems hipocrtitical to me...

People who are concerned about our enviroment drive 4-bangers and hybrids....

Just my 2-cents...

Edit... oh yah... I voted no cats

No Cats.
My car is exempt anyway, but even without cats, my engine is at least twice as clean running as the original one, and way faster! LOL
