Default Ok,I admit to probably drilling my tb hole too big..neatest fix /size of factory hole

Ok I got overly ambitious and drilled the tb hole on my m6 out to 13/64 and no my iac go to zero..
so I know I can just jb weld the hole but thought it might be neater to use a rivet maybe or rubber grommet or something..I gather you can't buy the tb blades just buy themselves and not sure if stock blade still works..I have mti ported tb.
I don't really notice much from the zero iac..what is the effect of zero iac on m6 cars if any..It does seem my car is very slow to return to idle when stopping..it stays up at like 2000 and then slowly goes down.I have my tb screw upside down now also if need to adjust that way..
so what is size of the hole stock...??Also have seen plastic rivets are they good enough.not much heat and no gas goes thru the tb so it shouldn't take much to put something in that hole..not sure if metal rivets are big enough to fill the hole??

You can take the blade out of the throttle body and on a steel table use a ball peen hammer to peen the hole smaller.

13/64" is not to big.. I have mine to 15/64"
and I added a .022" shim on top of the stock
setting of the idle set screw..

Rivet, and then drill a different hole.

Leave 13/64"s hole and lower idle speed with set screw if you want IAC count to come up. 0 Iacs are fine with me i dont have any issues with mine set up that way. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I've cold flowed the blade hole with a ball peen , works a-ok if you don't need to close it alot. Also, I've used red RTV, filled the hole and then formed a new one while still wet that worked great too, 12K miles and still perfect, IF that got sucked into the engine it wouldn't cause any damage.

I like to use 2-part clear epoxy on any intke related componets . You can mix it apply cleanly & be ready in 10 min.

I have lowered the idle speed with that set screw ,since I turned it upside down its easy to play with but its seems now that my idle went down,I get random misfire code which I didn't have with higher idle and still am pretty sure my iac is at zero..again are some of you auto guys answering this post as I think its different for m6 guys if we hit zero. Also with the lowered idle the car almost stalls cold but does run fine warm.
I don't think the idle is quite as slow to come down now with the idle speed lowered.I bought a rivet gun and rivets today..I doubt one little rivet will affect flow enough to make any difference..seems like maybe a nice clean way to do it..have to play with them to see what size to use in that 13/64 hole..or could just live with zero counts if it has nothing to do with the car being so slow to come down from like 2000 rpm at the lights..or is that from having the idle screw too high..and does the higher idle speed get rid fo the random misfire code again..I don't get any other codes from too high idle where I set the screw.a bit confused..anyone know what stock size hole is..I may still just put it stock size and
try to bump up the idle speed with the setscrew until I get ls1 edit and then dial this stuff right in..or a similar program..not crazy about ls1 edit price and think they actually raised it lately..pretty greedy for a software program and cheap little connector cord..maybe autotap will make a similar product..ls1 edit doesn't seem very user friendly at all.

I don't like the idea of a rivet along the face of the blade for airflow reasons.

Well put a rivet in it and now still want to put it to stock setting as pretty sure someone said I could just raise it up with idle screw and get the
iac counts to 20 or so and then I won't have this staying up at revs so bad when I stop at the lights..so once again..anybody know the size of the original factory hole....?????

Well since no one knows the size of the factory hole apparently I decided to just try stuff..impatient me..LOL I put in a rivet, had to put it in back of blade as rivet gun wouldn't reach from the front its too recessed and tried taking blade out and put rivet in front but then you can't get the blade back in ,had to drill out the rivet..no big deal. Finally tried 9/64 hole as with the 13/64 hole even with the tb screw all the way down I can't get any numbers on the iac at idle..always zero. With the 9/64 it was a fine adjustment but finally got some positive iac around high twenties with tb screw nearly fully in..and it was touchy..a half turn out..zero iac.
half turn in ..too high like 65 or something. The car seems to idle ok..didn't sound very good when cold but didn't stall either..didn't stall when driving or when turned on air..and that super annoying super slow return of the proper idle speed has gone away and that is back to normal.
I am pretty happy I think with it now.So think stock hole is probably a bit smaller than 9/64 maybe 5 /64 or so..??
