Does anybody have an answer? I've posted this in the appearance section, braking section, but nobody seems to want to answer. So, i'll try it here...
I bought caliper spray paint..i just need to know how to take the calipers off...the guy at pepboys said theres two bolts holding them on...just take out the bolts, remove calipers, spray em, torque <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> em...Is it that easy?? Is it a must that i remove the brake line?
WHAT IS THE TORQUE FOR THE PINS HOLDING THE CALIPERS TOGETHER??

Re: Does anybody have an answer? you don't need to remove the brake line...just more headaches for you. the paint you have is more than likely a very thick epoxy type paint and is brushed on...in this case you can leave the caliper connected and just paint it as it dangles...careful the paint is highly toxic, so just wear a respirator or a painters mask

Re: Does anybody have an answer? DON'T brush on paint. Use spray paint. There are only two bolts holding your calipers on. Yes, it's that easy. Painting your calipers are very easy and they look awesome. There are a few pics in my sig that may help.

Re: Does anybody have an answer? If all you're doing is painting the calipers then you can do a perfectly adequate job without removing them at all. Take a look at the following link from jmX's website: http://ls1.fbody.com/install_paintcalipers.html
When I painted mine last year I put the car on jackstands in the front and removed the front wheels. I did one caliper at a time and turned the steering in the opposite direction of the side I was working on (this allows better access to the back side of the caliper). I then used some plastic grocery bags to cover the rotors. You can tuck these bags between the rotor surface and the pads. I then covered the inner and outer fenders with newspaper and masked off everything else I didn't want paint/overspray on. Rears work the same way, but no steering obviously.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I used a spray-on caliper paint good for 900+ degreesF from Dupli-Color followed by a hi-heat clear coat. I did four coats of the paint and two coats of the clear. Make sure you get those calipers nice and clean beforehand too. Eastwood makes a nice pre-cleaner for removing grease, oil, etc., prior to painting. I can email you a pic of mine if you're interested.

Re: Does anybody have an answer? The paint isn't sticking? That's odd. You cleaned the calipers off well right? I used Simple Green and a scrub brush to start. Then I used a dremel followed by sandpaper. I put one coat of primer on then 3 coats of red paint. I finished them off with 2 coats of high temp clear.
