Default Help with Free Mods and Simple Bolt-Ons

Hey guys, I just got my T/A, I love it, and I'm big into performance and all, but not on this car, it's too nice, I don't want to take it apart, I've got another project for that, however, I was curious on gettin some info on the most helpful small, non-damaging and non-permanent free mods, and some opinions on the best simple bolt-ons to buy with small install times and somewhat decent prices, I got an slp lid, filter, and bellow off ebay for 120 bucks shipped, other than that I've takin the ram air baffles out and now I'm sittin near stock, any ideas? hint: my goal is to hit a 12.9 strip time and be done with it. btw. . . anyone know what 02 M6 WS-6's run stock with a decent to well driver and street tires/strip tires?

I'm no expert, but supposedly stock LS1 F-bodies run low 13s with a decent driver... so somewhere in the ballpark of 13.1-13.5, depending on conditions and such. I think some people with great driving skills even hit that 12.9 mark of yours with a stock car... I could be wrong though, since I've only read about that in forum posts with no proof. In any case, light mods and practice should give you 12.9 with very little problems, especially if you're considering good tires.

get a LM(keep stock manifolds) or gmmg. and id say an 02 WS6 should be able to crack a 12.9 with a good driver and sticky tires.

you can try ported tb (DIY or pay ~$100), don't port the MAF, and don't do the free hot air mod. Both can be damaging to the engine (some people will say it didn't do anything to theirs, but others did it and immediately replaced them with stock un-touched parts.) If you're on budget I wouldn't get a catback. Either go cheapo- $30 cut-out, or do it right- LT headers, and better flowing pipe. I don't see any sense in spending $500+ for the amount of performance I get from a $30 cut-out with $35 installation.

If you learn to launch well and go to a track with good prep/elevation you can hit 12.9X with lid, cut-out or catback, and other small mods.

Get headers, Off road y-pipe, some stickies or drag radials, and a tune and you might see 12.6 not to mention my gas mileage went way up. I was getting 2 more miles better (with my foot out of it) to a GALLON for my gas comsumption. Also you'll need to do a 2200 drop at the line to get a little launch.

Well you already have the LS6 intake since its an '02. So, I would say a set of Pacesetter LT headers if your on a budget (any other LT if you don't mind spending some more money), an ASP underrive pulley and a set of 4.10 gears with sticky tires should have you pretty happy.

Cutout,Long Tube Headers, Off Road Y pipe, lowering springs, pulley, gears, the list is endless and you are in the right place for questions.

i did 13.3 with a crappy 60 ft on a 99 car

12s with and 02 ws6 is possible if hes a good driver and can get a good 60ft.

im sure he can go faster than me because he has the ws6 package and the ls6 intake already.

There have been A4s with full bolt ons and a good converter do 11s on some sticky tires. Thats with completely stock heads and cam.

I imagine if you go full bolt ons (headers, ory, lid, underdrive pulley, catback OR open cutout) along with gears and sticky tires and can get a good launch, you could probably see lowww 12s since your an M6. Once again,
Good luck!

Well since you debaffled the hood, now seal it to the airbox (I used some stiff foam to seal the hood to the airbox), then get a catback, and some practice driving the car in a 1/4 mile, and you should be pretty close to your goal of 12.9, if that don't work, a 75 shot of n2o ought to get you there

Just because you cant get low 13's out of a completely stock LS1, doesn't mean the other 500 people that have on here didn't...

Even convertibles (which are notably heavier) have done LOW 13's... automatics too. STOCK... 100% STOCK

Don't launch your M6 car too hard with sticky tires or your rear will go.

lid, catback, ported TB are simple, easily-reversible mods along with a set of sticky tires, that will DEFINATELY get you into the 12's, BUT you have to watch that weak rearend when you start really launching it. good luck!

12's shouldn't be too hard to get depending on the track conditions. I went 13.11 at Memphis Motorsports Park in the middle of the summer(94 degrees when I ran). I had a Lid, Pulley and Diablo programmer on an A4 02 Firehawk.
