Thanks!
Mine actually feels smoother. My stock mounts were shot. I don't notice much vibration at all. I thought it'd be terrible since I'm running dumps now too, but I find it very liveable and nothing to complain about. It's alright to run poly motor with stock tranny. That's what I'm doing. I've heard as long as the motor mount is stronger or equal to the tranny mount you're fine. I've heard not to run poly trans mount, but stock motor mount.

Holy crap, stay away from poly trans mounts! I put one on my car when I changed my clutch and it made it so rough! Seriously, I was so glad to finally put the stock mount back in. You could watch coins vibrate accross the carpet while driving on the interstate with the poly trans mount. They amplify every vibration that your drivetrain has in it.

That being said, who wants to buy mine?

There are plenty of 9 second cars running stock trans mounts.

Poly engine mounts, on the other hand, are worth their weight in gold!

I've been rocking poly trans mount for over 6yrs and have no harsh vibrations, most of my vibration comes from the exhaust hitting on the floor pan. I'm ordering poly engine mounts on the 1st.

Now, in my Volkswagen i put poly engine mounts in and yeah it vibrated but nothing major.

If you've got a wheel that's slightly out of balance, or a driveshaft that isn't perfect, or anything else that isn't perfect then you'll feel it more with a poly trans mount.

Since you've already got a poly trans mount, and your about to go with poly engine mounts, if you experience some harsh interstate vibrations then I'd invest in a regular trans mount. The stock engine mounts might be obsorbing a lot of vibrations that you can't feel yet. Maybe not though. Just don't cuss your new poly engine mounts right away because they'll serve a bigger purpose than the stiffer trans mount.

On a side note: I put a poly torque arm mount in when I did my clutch and poly trans mount and I can't say for sure that it did anything!

Thank for the great write up. I did poly motor mounts the other weekend and it was a breeze. Helped that I had the car stripped for a new clutch and headers already though.

Another suggestion, pull out a carpenters level before you start unbolting stuff and make sure your car is sitting nice and level.

When I did mine on the 94 t/a I did one side at a time, starting with the driver's side. For the life of me I could not get the driver's side to get back in, so I got pissed and gave up for the day. My dad suggested checking the levelness of the car. Sure enough I checked the levelness, fixed the jack stands, and it fell right into place.

I also used a jack underneath the engine to pivot it up and down until I could get the bolt to just slide right in. Just had one person bringing it up and down for me by marginal amounts.

Driver's side took me 7 hours, passenger's side took maybe 2. This was with the manifolds already pulled, getting ready for LT's.

I'm going to be tackling this soon in the Camaro along with headers, I'm not sure if there is much of a difference between the LS1 and LT1 as far as this goes, but I feel like it is going to be so much easier the second time around.

If you just loosen the through bolt and take out the mount to block and pedastal to k-member bolts it comes out as one piece. That way you don't have to do anything with the a/c compressor or alternator.
How important are these torque specs? I don't know if I can get a torque wrench to all the bolts.

Got a question could be a dumb one but can you just do the drivers side mount??? Thats the torque side. Firgured you can just do that and it will help. let me know cause i'm not looking forward to doing this at all!!!!!!!!!!! i'm so tired of watching my motor rock with the cam and the loud banging of my y pipe againts the floor. Is there anything that could be damaged because of bad motor mounts? its not losing power to the wheels with this is it?? thanks guys

Your logic sounds right about the torque side but if its one thing I have learned the hard ....and I mean hard way about these cars is that it does not pay off in any way to just get by or half *** it. It WILL come back to haunt you. If any case, take it into consideration that there are some guys on here that did both sides and still get a bump from the ypipe. It sucks man but its the truth, just bear down and make it happen....hell if I did, u can.

I know the poly trans mounts are a little stiff at first but soften up a little over time.

I did a poly mount swap once in a 99 Cavalier Z24 and it was the worst thing I ever did. Although in those cars, one side doubles as a trans mount. It was terrible. Anything loose in the car jumped around like an earthquake was going on every time I stepped on the gas.

Different car, different structure and setup, different results I'm hoping.

Going from a set of "don't notice anything wrong" rubber mounts with (I'd guess) 120k on the clock... to poly mounts...

and then swapping the same age transmission mount with a 1LE stock mount....

would this be a good setup for someone that can handle a little vibration but doesn't want everything in his center console rattling around t-rex style every time he presses on the gas??
