Either way you're right. I haven't seen enough data to justify the swap. If it can get into the same range as FAST 90 but cheaper.....I would be all over it. Not gonna do it for LS6 numbers. Already have that.

Perhaps it was the same car, i though it was a different post by a different user, guess not.

Anyway, I think thats the best thing. stick with the LS6 till people are really showing some solid gains. Although it could be the type of thing where it dosnt show much improvement over an LS6 on a stock motor, but perhaps a big heads/cam car, or a stroker could really benefit from the larger mouth. Foood for thought.

These are your numbers with the LS6 & the 85mm right? (from this post https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....&postcount=451 )

Even with the 85mm it still dyno's lower than the LS6? Sooo....added to what you just posted....

LS6 and stock TB = 383/371
85mm and 85mm TB= 379/361

Is this correct?
That is correct grasshopper. But look. Look at the baseline #'s from when I installed the manifold vs today. Quite a difference. This difference is because I have since put in a Moser 12 bolt with 33 spline axles and 3.90 gears. So the drivetrain eats a little more hp than it used to. I fully understand that the LS6 intake made a little more power than the PP 85mm, and it was my preference to keep it in. I'm about to put a decent shot of N2O in my car, and would much rather have an aluminum intake instead of plastic incase of a N2O backfire. And the PP is much prettier and has plenty of room to port. Now if you look at the throttle body, it doesn't really matter what manifold you bolt it to, its still going to give you a good hp gain. If you look at the price, the #'s, and the looks, I don't really see the issue here. It just really depends on what your looking for. Just my .02

Your shop owner is pretty bright...last time I checked, aluminum is heavier than plastic. No pun intended

That's the way I had understood it too, the gain was still there, the dyno numbers you posted today was a before/after TB but the numbers were lower because of a heavy rear install with shorter gears. Sounds like a solid gain.

Interesting, thanks for the info Zeus.

I should be receiving my LS6 intake soon, and it's going to need a good TB. Were there any fitment issues or other quirks with 85 mm TB?

What I'd really like to see is 1BAD's results after porting.

1BAD,
I know your not able to dyno yet because of other issues but do you have any "after" pics of your port job?

Screw it. I think I'm down for one. I've got a ported Holley intake and could use a larger and more affordable TB.

This is very true. I have a ported Holley intake with a stock ported TB. I can't find the dyno sheets but I had an ls6 intake with the stock TB before. in stock form the holley intake dyno'd lower than the ls6, but I added lots of compression and a very healthy cam. Again I had it dyno'd at the same place to record my gains. Then I put the Holley intake back on and dyno'd again. I showed 14hp gains over the ls6 intake with the holley and stock tb.

Moral: If the intake is used with the right setup, and the application it was designed they tend to show better results.

I'd like to see them put it on the market instead of create hype and get everyone too mad to buy from them. I need an intake and TB now. Not in a few months.

They are. First off, the whistling problem only occurred on some Ford throttle bodies and was eventually solved by adding a chamfer on one of the internal holes. Secondly, we have since moved all of the production of throttle bodies to a new factory which is one of the largest throttle body manufacturers in Asia that produces O.E. throttle bodies by the millions. I would not be afraid to say that we probably now offer the highest quality aftermarket throttle bodies available.

It obviously was a mistake to mention on a forum like this what we have in the works. I won't do that again. I guess I thought some people would be interested in at least knowing what was being developed but apparently I was wrong. If you need an intake and a TB now I suggest that you should probably buy something that is available. There are plenty of other choices.

As I stated in the post just above, I made an error in letting this forum know what we are working on. In the future, I won't mention any product that isn't available for sale yet. The 80mm and 85mm throttle bodies are brand new products and are currently being subjected to testing and evaluation. We are now satisfied that they are ready for production and we should have them available for sale within about 60 to 70 days. If that is too long for anyone to wait, then, as stated earlier, there are plenty of other options available for you to purchase.

I'm just giving you a hard time, Mr. Funny Bone. I know it's in development. And for that very reason, I'm waiting on your products. I just want to get the 96/96 so bad I can't stand it.
