carb style intake manifold vs. other mods
i have qtp headers, a ported maf and a ported throttle body. i was wondering on the next mod and im considering a carb style, victor jr. intake mainifold and a 90mm throttle body, i dont want a bigger cam so i cant think of much else. also i am for sure supercharging or turbocharging soon, any opinions of anything except the carb intake?

Cam is still a good idea for a n/a car unless you want to go FI (thrn a good FI cam will be even better ).
There's only so much induction/exhaust mods you can do before the internals of the engine become the restriction. Carb style intakes seem to work better on highly tuned and/or large displacement engines that require the extra flow. On a fairly stock 346ci you may gain a little PEAK but it would probably not help your low and mid range much.
Check out this intake test:http://www.tpis.com/plog/index.php?o...Id=14&blogId=1
And remember to look at more than just the PEAK numbers. Compare the torque figure for the Fast 90/90 and the Spider intake at 3000rpm and 4000rpm there's a big difference in favour of the FAST setup even though it's PEAK numbers are ultimatley lower.
Matching your setup for your intended use and desired goals is always the best solution.

Why not add a muffler, if you design you exhaust sensibly it won't hurt HP, certainly won't offset the potential gains of a cam anyhow.

Kinda cusious ifd you can't have a loud car why are you running an open Y pipe
A set of LT's, catted Y and a decent catback (Magnaflow, SLP Dual/Dual, Hooker) won't be too loud even with a wild cam. If you then want the ability to be loud get a cut out.
Running stock internals with no power adder will really limit you to about 350-360rwhp, where as a cammed LS1 should be at 400rwhp +-.
The LS6 cam on it's own is IMO not worth the hassle, if you want a cheap alternative then the GM hotcam is pretty good for the money but a 224 cam on a 114 lsa wouldn't be any louder and should make more power.

Well you are definitely going with a good turbo kit. You might as well get a stealth turbo cam too. Depending on your setup the kit may make your car a little quieter if I remember correctly what I heard. Are you going to forge your bottom end?
