Question Magnaflow vs Gmmg

Hi,
I have listened to www.ls1sounds.com, and the Magnaflow and Gmmg catbacks sound the same to me.
The catback is a replacement on a stock system on a 01 ws6.

1. Is Gmmg too loud for anyone? (At normal cruising).
2. Is there any rasp/drone with Gmmg?
3. Which has the deepest rumble?
4. Will the magnaflow scare people at launch?
5. And most importantly, is Gmmg worth the extra $$$ ?

I can not hear these catbacks in person, so any input is much appreciated.

To be honest i havent heard the Magnaflow in person but i have heard the GMMG and all i know is that it sounded pretty amazing. I really like the sound of chambered mufflers... exhaust opinions are a hard one, everyone has their own but GMMG has my vote.

I've had both on my car. Some of these answers will depend on whether or not you have longtubes/cats.
1. It's not loud in the cabin, but is pretty loud outside(especially w/longtubes).
2. VERY MINIMAL drone, almost none with stock manifolds and cats. It won't give you a headache like the LM will.
3. The Magnaflow is real deep, but smooth like butter and not throaty in the least. The Magnaflow is a decent sounding muffler though. It just didn't have the throaty sound I was after. The GMMG is deep, throaty and sounds grumpy like a real muscle car should! The Magnaflow won't scare many people, but you can definately scare people with the GMMG.....I have lol! With heads/cam, longtubes and the GMMG, I've had people jump several times on start up! Expect some compliments when you put a GMMG on.
4. Believe it or not, the GMMG IS worth the extra $$! I had a hard time justifying it myself, but it does sound like a $700 exhaust. It's hard to tell from listening to soundclips on the computer, but the Magnflow and GMMG sound VERY different in person.

Apples to Hamburgers....They both have their own distinct sounds. But as a sidenote, they both sound great.

I've heard both in person, and have to give it to GMMG hands down for the quality and superior sound. (Not to mention the sweet sticker you get with it )

GMMG is by far worth every penny of it. It is not too loud for me at all, I think its just right. Just the other day, I actually scared a passeger of a vehicle that I was passing. I have heard both in perosn, and the GMMG has a more unique tone then the magnaflow. GMMG all the way.

To me the decision comes down to weather or not you go with cats or an ORY...

I agree...I'd rather have the Magnaflow with an offroad y-pipe.

Magnaflow may be a lot cheaper so it seems great, but the GMMG that I recently heard caused me to immediately choose the exhaust that I am going to go with. Awesome sound. If you have long tubes and ORY, then it may be a little on the loud side but that is all up to personal tastes.

IMO, GMMG hand down.

A friend of mine has GMMG (stock manifolds+cats) and it was too quiet. I dont see what all the hooplah is ab out it. Especially at that price. I have another friend with the LT, ORY, Magniflow setup and that sounds great.

ehhh you can't compare a LT/ORY car's exhaust to a stock manifold exhaust. put LT/ORY on the GMMG and it will drown out the magnaflow to the point where you won't be able to hear it. GMMG get's a little raspy without cats, but some people like the rasp. if you want loud, GMMG will far exceed the magnaflow, if you want sound quality, the GMMG will far exceed the magnaflow, if you don't run cats....the GMMG will rasp more. either way, I would pick GMMG, but that's just me.

Ok, thanks everyone, I think I have made up my mind.

The GMMG sounds like it is what I am after.
Worth the extra? Most of you seem to think so.
I was going with Magnaflow, but read alot about it being too quiet for some.

I want louder, not abnoxious loud, but loud enough to scare off most of the local ricefield. (A LS1 over here is nearly as rare as rocking horse *****).
One WS6 with GMMG comming up!!

Will post back with my thoughts on the new set up.

My 2 favorite sounding cars on ls1sounds are GMMG's plus LT's with CATS.
