Are you SURE I have posi?? Ok, lets get this straight once and for all.
I was going to a pumpkin patch on a dirt lot. I noticed that the driveway was rocks instead of dirt. Kinda like sombody poured rocks all over the entrance for some reason.
Well, to be on the safe side, i drove in slower than usual, and the rear started spinning. I GOT STUCK IN THE DAMN ROCKS!! <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />
Now, i straightened out the front end, and put it in reverse...to make a longer story short, I noticed the right rear was the only tire spinning. Some kids came and helped push the car out while i had it in reverse. We got it out after 5 mins of embarrassment. And get this...a fellow camaro owner just drove by and saw me, but didnt bother to stop. Some brotherhood we have here, eh?? Can anybody VERIFY if we have posi traction on my 2001 Z28? I think my code was GU2, which means i have 2.73's...

Re: Are you SURE I have posi?? You you have posi but its not strong enough for the other tire to spin loose. Since both wheels move independently they recieve less power and thats why the one wheel spun freely. If you cant light them up on the street and leave a patch with both your posi might be going out soon and would stay away from abuse though.

I just wanted to make sure, cause only one tire was spinning, and i thought through PosiTrac, BOTH tires spin at the same time...

Re: Are you SURE I have posi?? I thought our cars had the Torsen diff? With no spider gears and the screw type gear. Anyway. I think i have a problem with mine as well. I leave nice 1 wheel burnouts and a some real nicew wheelhop on the 1-2 shift with the right wheel. Once in a while they both will decide to chirp. oh yeah, and a gear whine that i can hear over the radio when its all the way up. But everything is ok, as per a GM dealer.

ALL LS1 F-bodies have posi as standard equip.
2.73, 3.23, or 3.42 > Its makes no difference.
Tell ya what.... Go out on the street. Hold the brakes. Give it throttle until the rear wheels start to spin hard. You will put down 2 very black marks. You can even have soneone outside the car looking at the rear wheels.
If it only spins the right rear tire, your posi unit is trashed.

Re: Are you SURE I have posi?? Better yet throw out that crap 10 bolt and get a 12 bolt with some gears, HD EATON posi and t/a cover. I dump my clutch with my slicks and neither tire can't stop spinning.
