Default Loudmouth To Loud need help

Installed the LM,s yesterday on my 2002,pleased with Dyno numbers, went from 292 RWHP to 309.9 RWHP. Engine sounds horrible at anything below full throttle. I was hoping for a more deep tone but ended up with what sounds like a cross between a Jap. car and an Indy car. I would like to put a muffler in place of the resonator, can someone help with a part number/Mfg for a suitable replacement. Something made out of s/s 3" in 3" out approx. 15" to 16 " long 4.5" dia <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> , deep tone like a flowmaster. Or should I quit whining and spring for the Corsa's??

Just hack that resonator off and replace it with a Borla XR1 muffler. You should be pleased with that instead.

Most people that do not like the tone either go with the X1R to replace the resonator, or add a muffler to the driver side exit. I added a Dynomax Ultraflow SS muffler to my driver side exit. Did not change the tone (I like it) but did get rid of the drone inside the cabin.

borla is sweet but kinda pricey for what it is......

put a bullet in place of the so called "resonater" LOL

makes your loudmouth into a dynomouth, search around the site a couple guys have sound clips of there cars with the bullet in the I pipe.

It's a cheap and easy fix. Just install a generic round glasspack muffler in the left tailpipe in the location of the stock muffler. It sounds hokey but it works great. The tone is deeper, it is quieter, and the drone is gone. It's like a poor mans Borla.

Put a DynoMax race bullet in place of your resonator. The part is 24222 if you have cats, 24219 if you have an ORP. The bullet will run you just under $40 from www.jegs.com .
Check page 2 of my website. I have 2 sound clips of the "Dynomouth" mod. The 2nd clip of the black Z on the dyno is an SLP Loudmouth converted to a Dynomouth with a 24222 race bullet.
The bullet will tone down the exhaust very nicely. The exhaust note will be very deep and full of bass, yet you will still have a very Nascar-ish top end. The drone will be cut down, and the rasp will be almost totally gone.
Good luck
Dave

i'm having the same problem with my loudmouth longtube combo. i was going to replace the resonator with either the dynomax bullett or round muffler. which one would you guys suggest. by the looks of the post....it's the bullett. i also just ordered a 3k mile slightly used dual dual exhaust for $200. that will be the next step

You could try putting a dyno bullet in place of the resonator or a chambered muffler. I've got the GMMG chambered catback and the sound is awesome- similar to the LM outside of the car but tighter, no rasp, and no interior drone. There's a guy on LS1.com that did the "Thundermouth" mod and said the same thing about the sound. He got the muffler from

Beware that the chambered muffler only comes in sizes UP TO 2.5". Even the 3" tube has a 2.5" center, then it has crimps in the internal tubing to form the so called "chambers". This might not be a bad thing on a mild dual system, but when you bottleneck a 2.75" or 3" I-pipe down to 2.5", you are losing ALOT of flow. The bullet is straight through, no nothing in the way... you can just about put your arm through the thing. If you just want a deep sound and want to pay $20 more, get a chamber. If you want deep, cheap, and high flow, go bullet.
