It's not the problem. I cleaned the socket out with carb cleaner and a rag and the tick is still there. I still HIGHLY thing it's exhaust related because you can only hear it on the drivers side unless I have a loose rocker or something.

Actually, it sounds like it's coming from the back BUT when you move your ear back there then it sounds like it's coming from the front. I'm about ready to give up!

Checked the rockers, they are still tight at 22 ft-lbs. This is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!

It did it before the headers when the car was stock but now it's REALLY noticeable and I can't find the source. I thought for sure it was that dam plug. It also has a high rpm miss now. Hopefully that's an easy fix.

FWIW, to rule exhaust leak out you can have someone stuff rags in the the tailpipes. This will make any exhaust leaks more evident.

I beginning to think that what you're hearing is a valve train problem, unfortunately. With headers, any valve train noise is will become more noticable.

It might have a bad lifter.

my stumble was a cracked plug as I thought and hoped. Car is fine now except for the ticking. It still sounds like exhaust to me, I just need to find the leak.

I'm going to wait a little bit and see if I can find some black carbon soot somewhere. Otherwise I have no idea where it's coming from.

Here's the culprit for the stumbling. Brand new plug with less than 5 miles on it.

FWIW, to find and exhaust leak you can have someone stuff rags in the the tailpipes. This will make any exhaust leaks more evident. Have an assistant stuff the rags in the tailpipes while you search for the leak.

No idea, I've never seen one crack vertically like that. Usually they just snap off or crack around if you overtighten them.

I still need to stuff some rags in the exhaust and search for a leak.

I'm guessing you've checked where the collectors meet the Y-Pipe, and the Y-Pipe to the catback? When I first did my headers I had an exhaust leak on the driverside where the Y hooked up, the Y was actually too short, so with alot of effort we got it pushed up enough and tight to stop the leak, after that the genius at the shop welded it If your sure its not valvetrain clatter than all it can be is the exahust or a lifter, for some reason I doubt its a lifter. Definatly check it out with the rags, if that doesnt work or you dont find anything, I guess you may have to pull the heads.

Ive also heard the air pump check valve can cause a ticking noise under acceleration for LT1 vehicles, not sure about LS1s but I would look into it. (I notice your sig has !AIR, but does your wifes car?)

my car has a ticking but i found carbon buildup right near my band clamps, i then put a bead of high temp silicone and wraped it with aluminum tape and clamped it again it was gone.

I need to check the collectors but these are MAC headers so they fit together a bit different.

On the wife's car, the AIR was removed so that is not the problem. I'm hoping it is at the collector since that would be the easiest fix. I just can't find it since the car isn't being driven until it gets tuned, so I really can't look for carbon yet.
