Default What kind of REAL-LIFE gains with ASP pulley?

I have a friend that I race with and we always come within +/- fender of eachother. I think our cars are identical and it's only driving error that makes the difference. When the ASP pulley first came out it was good for .1 or even .2 in the quarter with the ad claiming .3 to .4. Since its been out for a while what results have you really been seeing?
If I buy it, when I race my buddy the next time, how much am I going to pull on him? And what speeds does it help-overall or low/high rpm/speeds? We usually race from 25-35mph in second gear to 120-130mph. Thanks a lot for any input.

I think you'll notice an immediate difference. I did. The ASP pulley is lighter and smaller. It allows the engine to spin up a little faster as a result. You motor might think it's a 2 stroke after you install the ASP, but it will still sound like a 4 stroke.

So what stroke do I have and what will it sound like afterwards? What will sound different?

Our engines are 4 stroke. Intake, compression, power/combustion, and exhaust.

No way to change that. I think what he was trying to say is that it makes it feel like its acting faster.

its a pully... 3 tenths is a good gain for headers. .3-.4 for a puuly? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> sry but dont expect more than 10 rwhp (which is alot for a pully)

Do you mean equivalent to 10rwhp? A pulley isn't measurable on a dyno, only on the track.. or street.

Depending on you Driving(shifting) you should pull on him about 1-2 car length. As for that Asp
saying it worth .3 or .4 I call that <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" /> .

Hoped thats helps out.
P.s- Good luck with that Kill <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I would say you would pull him a solid car length. Possibly a bit more.

.05-.1 is realistic for ASP underdrive crank pulley. .03-.05 is realistic for the shortbelt mod. Both my '99 M6 SS, and my '02 A4 SS showed that much gain--the '99 M6 responded on the high side, the '02 on the lower end of the scale. Best wishes. I picked up .13 in the 1/4 with the crank and alt pulley on my bolt on motor.

Are you guys sure that this pulley is good for a full solid car length? Thats pretty damn impressive for just a pulley. I normally only lose by about a car length or so- either that or ten car lengths. Maybe this and a few other things will put me back in the game. Thanks.

For 13 second cars (and usually 12 and 14 second ones too)...

One tenth (1/4 mile) = 10 horsepower = 1 car length (1/4 mile)

Pullies are for dyno queens <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

That must be why all the Berger Camaros and most of the best running LS-1's on this board are using underdrive pullies..... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> WJ.

Think thats gearing there Drew. My first trip down a track I got beat - 4-5 lengths he trapped 105 flat high 12 I trapped 101.5@13.7. He took off like a Bat outta he!! but I was realing him in quickly - just the finish came to soon lol. A lil more track savy though and I shoulda prolly made it closer

Drew - reaction times will play a huge role which you may not have factored in...

If a pulley was good for .3 or .4 it would cost $1,000.00

.1 if your lucky.
