Default Stock exhaust manifolds - room for improvement

I picked up some spare '02 exhaust manifolds
with the notion of doing some porting for
flow improvement. I had no idea how much
room for improvement there is, just in the
port matching department. Check it out:

Some pretty serious lip intrusion into the
head's port opening. And since I got 'em
used, the carbon makes a dandy port stencil
(heh).

This looks to me like some free horsepower
(if you get paid nothing to hold a die grinder
all weekend).

If you can port the manifolds, than you can port the heads for an all stock car right?

Got no wife. Like doing it myself.
Might be moving to smog cop land
if the deal is right. Still got
4.5 years of extended warranty, so
I don't want to do things I can't
put back. Stealth, baby. That, and
I'm a stingy bastard with poor impulse
control and a whole lotta tools. <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />

I'm sure glad to hear there is another stingy bastard out there. I was finding it pretty lonely :-)

Yeah, Im gonna try and port mine too. What do you have to lose? If it dont work out you can always buy long tubes later. A 10hp gain would be nice.
