We havn't left for home yet, so I don't have the graphs uploaded yet. First of all, we would like to thank Sean and the guys at Modern Musclecar Technologies for the afternoon of dyno time.

We did about 3-4 pulls on a popular aftermarket lid first of all to get a good baseline before we tried the new lid. With the new lid we picked up power all throughout the RPM range. The whole graph shifted noticably higher, some points were 8 rwhp additional, on the high range of the RPM scale I remember one point where there was a 14rwhp gain. The only change to the car between the dyno pulls was the airlid.

This is on Trevor's '00 SS with heads/cam and a 200-4r. We were quite happy by the back to back dyno results between the 2 lids and look forward to more positive feedback soon.

On another note we ran Trevors SS at the Motorplex on Friday night for street night. We were testing the new NX MAF kit we recently installed. It dyno'd just under 500rwhp unlocked with a 100 shot out of the box. The first N20 pass netted a 10.6x @ 125mph with a 1.4x 60'! Next project is a fuel pump upgrade to up the shot to a 150!

Well if I were a betting man, I say that the test was comparing to the Direct-Flow lid.

When building a better 'mouse-trap', you start with whatever is at the top,'king-of-the-hill', & design from that starting point.

I went from the MTI, to the Whisper, & now run the Direct-Flow. As each design WAS supposted to be better. The mentioned 3 are probaby within just a couple of HP from each other.

On the Direct-Flow website it states 10-15 rwhp, & a 17 rwhp, on one dynoed car, increase over the stock lid. Plus track testing of 2 tenths / 2 MPH better than stock.

With Joseph posting increases of 8 rwhp in places & 14 rwhp at one point on the dyno graph, vs the tested popular aftermarket lid. This is AWESOME , & almost a DOUBLE over what most aftermarket lids do over stock !!

Have to wait untill Trevor posts the results, but it looks like he did his homework & engineered a lid that is a winner. Track testing should be better too , with fra & FTRA.

The back-to-back test was done between a Whisper type air lid and our own New Lid. No one we know locally has had a Direct-Flow to test against, any company's air-lid is a big improvement over stock though. We wanted to test the most popular air lid we have seen installed on customers cars vs. the new design. Before the dyno I myself wondered how much rwhp can this new lid be worth, I think it kinda surprised all of us.

Trevor has the dyno graphs, I'll have him post them up as soon as they are uploaded.

Alright, definitely got my attention with the dyno #'s...but what's the chances you'll be coming out with a carbon fiber one?

Alrighty then, just noticed a CF one is in the line-up already.....see what happens when I'm too busy looking at the pics?!

Are there any left and how do I order one if so? Those gains look awesome. The lid was tested on a H/C car though right? What can I expect from my stock head, stock cam car?

Edit: What's the story with the torque curve...40rwtq gain?

Dont worry about the torque difference, its just the way the dyno run was made. E-mail trevor@texas-speed.com or call at 806-785-8408. Trevor will post up & explain everything this evening

After looking at the graph the gains look impressive, but there is one thing that I wonder if it will help a bolt on car. The cam in that car must be quite big to spin it to 7500 rpm. I'd also guess there is more than a stock shortblock in this car. Can you guys get a comparison on a bolt on or near stock car?

Has anybody that already received their lid seen improved gains over their other lid?

The car was not spun up to 7500 RPM. The RPM scale is off due to the higher stall. It's a common problem with the larger torque converters on the dyno. Dynojet is supposed to have a new program out this month that corrects this problem. My limiter is at 7,000 RPM, so it can't be spun to 7,500.

Yes, these gains are on a heads/cam setup. We did the list test before we did any tuning on the car. You cannot look at the torque on an auto-equipped car with an unlocked converter because torque will change with the RPM that the converter is flashed at. If you look at the graph again, you'll see the torque graph with the higher spike was flashed at a lower RPM. You do need to pay attention to the TQ curve once it's past the spike and smooths out. You can see that the gains are throughout the RPM band and not just at peak. Also, this is a stock short-block. FYI, we ended up with a best of 390 RWHP with an unlocked converter, and locking the TCI 3800 was worth 22 RWHP.

We did have plans to dyno the lid on another, less modified car, but the left O2 was dead after we got it on the dyno. It was showing an a/f ratio of 18:1, so we couldn't get any numbers from another car. We will have more dyno numbers in the next few weeks from a bolt-on car with the stock lid vs. our induction lid.

We do not have any lids in stock right now. If you want a lid, just shoot me an e-mail with the lid you want, and I will put you down on my list. I do apologize for the delay in getting the stocking order, but the manufacturer is having to do some tweaking before shipping them to me. We don't want anything less than perfect when they ship out to our customers! I hope to have my stocking order later this week. Once it does arrive, I will call or e-mail everyone on my list.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!

Trevor

Will the introductory prices last through the SBSO? I was planning on picking one up at the shootout.

Thanks!
