Default Dynatech Supermax Headers??

Why are the Dynatech Supermax headers so expensive? They cost $1,300.00. I thought QTP and Kooks made the nicest headers for the LS1?

the supermaxx is a system. it comes with 2 headers,2 high flow cats,y-pipe,2 header gaskets, air tube gaskets,02 extentions, all hardware needed and they are stainless. i will tell you from my experience that this system is an awsome fit and sounds great. everyone thinks they are so expensive but if you do the math and figure what you would need after buying just headers from another brand you will find out its really not bad.

They are expensive but they fit very well, good clearance all around, very easy to install, comes with complete install kit and cats and nice large radius merge Y-pipe (unlike some other Y-pipes that have sharp bend merge).

And where did you find that price. I can only find them for about $1500 smackaroos.

Not to jack the thread, but, I didn' t like the clearance on my QTP cat' d y-pipe. It was worse when I changed converters, and moved the driver' s side onto the collector. I ended up cutting a stamped steel floor crossmember ( 4" X 2" ) to move the cat higher off the ground. Worked okay, but still hangs low.

That Supermaxx system should fit a lot better, because that y-pipe is like 2.5". The Kooks doesn' t look too bad, because they flatten the driver' s side a bit. I wanted a 3" y-pipe, and liked QTP merge collector, so I conceeded to less ground clearance. BUT, the entire Supermaxx system is T304 ( if I' m not mistaken ) unlike QTP' s. I don' t think Kooks y-pipe is SS either though.

I' ve heard nothing but good things about fitment with the Supermaxx.

Those sure are pretty too. I like the idea of one-piece primaries, although, I am sure it doesn' t make a significant difference.

I do like the QTPs though. With the only change being the headers, and revised tune, going from the standard collector QTPs to their HVMCs, I gained from 5-10 RWHP. I say 5-10 because my max power showed 12 more horse, but, the tuner thought it may have been a spike. I DID get a verified 5 more horse though, and I think there was a little left, because intake temperatures were almost 50* higher with the HVMCs.

I know of a few people in my area that really like their Supermaxx. Either way, you can' t go wrong ;D

Maybe If you bought the flowmaster merge collector and the maganflow 59950 Series cats, you could end up with a very nice Y pipe
