Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers
If anyone is wondering what i have been up to, here it is!
QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers. Made with high quailty 304 stainless steel. No more coatings. Going with quality metal instead of cheap steel. Please excuse the pics. I did them real quick.
<img src="http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/Headers/headerhvc1-med.jpg" alt=" - " />
Made some improvements beside the metal change. All the headers now have long turbulance spikes in the collectors for ultimate scavaging.
<img src="http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/Headers/Turbulance%20spike-small.jpg" alt=" - " />
And the big news.
High Velocity Merge Collectors. Nascar technology for our LS1s.
<img src="http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/Headers/Mergecollector-small.jpg" alt=" - " />
Why High Velocity Merge Collectors?
The construction of a merge collector is such that the change in area at the primary tube to collector transition point is minimized. This gradual transition allows the exhaust gas to maintain as much velocity as possible. Maintaining gas velocity is the key to allowing the exhaust system to reach its efficiency potential.
Merge collectors significantly improve the efficiency of the exhaust system. We recommend dyno testing to arrive at the final camshaft combination when using this style of collector. If you need that last little edge and are willing to do the testing required to realize the potential gains, merge collectors are one of the most economical ways to gain significant amounts of torque and horsepower in the entire engine combination.
One other news about the merge collectors, I am not charging $300 per collector like other header builders. This option is only $325 per set.
Since we are making these ourself the price is lower. Check the web site for pricing.
These are slowly going out to ones that already ordered them. Please be patient because it takes time to build these with quality. A GP will happen on these just not right now as requested. I will start one after i ship out all the headers i have on order. I do not want to extend my self and have something lacking. The cat ypipe is also coming out soon. Just did not have a chance to get the cats flowed yet. Waiting on some cats from carsound to add to the cat shootout. Will post that when done.

looking good Barry, making me want to sell my original QTPs and get on a set of these, once you get yourself caught up of course. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
very well done and hats off to you once again. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Nice <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> I like the whole unfinished look of the headers. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

super nice headers? what is the cost of those with the merge collectors? wow, very impressed! are these the type of header that LGM says are good? he says most headers out there are garbage. i bet these are the good ones! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Very nice. The new merge collector will allow the expanding exhaust gases to accelerate down the pipe.
Nice work Barry! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[worship]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

Re: Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers
why no merge collectors for the emissions style header? no room for o2 bungs or is it because they are meant to be run with an open exhaust system? im really eyeing these headers, i was planning on flp's because of the ability to swap cats in and out but depending on the cat y-pipe pricing i might go with these instead. any chance of a swappable flp type system for these headers? btw, EXCELLENT headers.

Re: Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers
Sweet!!!!
Instead of buying the headers and Y seperate. Will you sale the headers and Y-pipe as a cheaper kit?
Do you have any Y-Pipes that DO NOT have the cut-out opennings. I just want smooth pipes.
Great Job!! Thanks!!!

Re: Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers
Maybe a stupid question, but will the cat Y-pipe be stainless as well? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Re: Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers
Thanks for the complents guys. Let me answer some of the questions.
Availabity is a little on the slow side. I should hope to be shipping ones on order end of next week. Give or take.
304 Stainless with last long. I just didnt polish the ones in the pics cause i had no time. I have a pic of a cycled header. Its on the golden side. But i dont see a problem with the metal. Look at all the stainless cat backs lasting. Its made from the same material.
All prices are on the site.
You can get a emissions merge collector. Just $75 more than the race version. Call me on that.
I am so busy building QTECs i have not really had a chance to finish the cat y pipe. Im selling close to 200 qtecs a month now. So bare with me on the y pipe. Hope to have some flow benched next week and then but them in the jig.
MY Y pipes come cutout and regular style. Both are aluminized Would like to make them in stainless but the cost would be through the roof and flowmaster only makes there y collector in aluminized. No reason to have a pipe with 2 different types of metals.
Im not doing a GP on these till all the orders are shipped out. But i will do one. I dont know when it will happend. All revolves around production. And the GP price wont be killer becuase i already lowered the standard prices down.

Re: Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers
Barry, the passenger side header is improperly phased. See if you can get the bottom two primaries swapped (#'s 6 and 2). Otherwise they are looking good <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> How did you decide on the vena contracta diameter of the merge collector and the expansion angle? What rev range are you looking to improve?
