Cut-out or No Cut-out
I have a stock 02 WS.6. The only mods as of now are an SLP lid and MAF, and k&n filter. I have an SLP y-pipe and loudmouth that I am having installed on Saturday. I have no intension of doing headers. My question is whether or not to put an electronic cutout in for that "real loud" take-off, or will it not sound that great without headers. I know the loudmouth will sound pretty loud without it, but I was just wondering if I should go the extra distance with a cutout?
Let me know what you guys think.

I just had the "zed" style cutout installed on my 02 WS6. I only have a lid. I can tell you that the sound is great. I like it a lot better than the loudmouth. The exhaust is not even all that loud through the cutout. I get a tiny bit of resonance from about 2300-2500 rpms, but nothing like the drone of the loudmouth. I was planning on putting a qtp electric cutout on, but after driving it around for a week, I don't know if I'll even bother. The sound is really unobtrusive in the car and deep and strong outside. I would see about returning that loudmouth of yours and spending the $40(installed) on a "zed" style cutout instead.
If you'd like, I can get some video of the cutout for you. Just drop me an e-mail at russellfulks@hotmail.com

On the other hand, if you're going for the Loud mouth, it'll sound great without doing headers.

By the way, here is a link to a cutout in the traditional location

This is toxictexan's car and I believe it was pretty much stock. If the link doesn't work, just go to quicktime's web page and click on the "98 Camaro Z28 LS1" link for the video.
