It was pretty easy to get inplace..I used some parts from my old Y-pipe setup and it went together in a couple of hours pretty easily.

I don't have pics of the ground clearance, but I will say there is a reason them pieces of steel are there..lol

It's not that bad though..

I didn't even notice those strips of steel haha nice idea... That would be helpful to me for sure, but I seem to hit more in the middle of my pipes rather than my bullets.

So I recently installed a LS1 in my 65 impala and my only questions is with the exhaust. I have my exhaust from my SBC 350 which is dual 2.5 inch with flowmasters. Should I put an H or X pipe in or can I leave it with the dual? Is there any benefit? Thanks

Even though I have a v6 I'll post my setup.

Pacesetter headers, high flow cats, 2.25" pipe w/ h-pipe, under the axle to borla xr1 mufflers.

Its not the prettiest setup, but I wasn't going for broke on it. The ground clearance doesn't look great in the video but its actually about the same as my old catback other than it being under the axle (still allows enough room to jack the car up too). Only time ground clearance has been an issue is with tall speed bumps.

Has anyone used a Magnaflow dual/dual muffler as a replacement for their x-pipe on their true duals set up ?

I was looking in to using the TSP dual setup, but it looks as thoght the "x pipe" isn't really connected. It looks as though the pipes just run next to each other and bend outward to form the "X", and not actually cross into each other. Would this hinder the performance and is there any other kits that actually have a true "X" built in?

What would make you think that?

Trust me it's a true X..I have never seen one of them out there that isn't..lol

My Summit one is a true X and cost me $100..just a tad cheaper than the TSP Kit.

Just about all X Pipes are made the same way.. two Mandrel bent pieces with part of them cut out on the outside of the curve, then welded together.

Oh ok, well the reason I thought that was because I was browsing some sites and JEGS magazines and saw some that they were selling just the "X" pipe and the ones pictured looked almost like one piece that made the "X" instead on the two pipes just coming together. Could you pint me in the direction of the whole kit you're talking about.

I have LT Pacestetters and would like to just bolt up to those and dump before the axle (for now, then extend them later) or if there is a simple complete kit that goes all the way back (on a budget) then I can take that route now.

Thank you for your help.

I have mine dumped and it's a pretty decent setup.

Just go on Summit and search X-pipe Kits..they have a bunch that are all differnet sizes.

I am searching on their site, but seeing as I am totally new to the dual setup I'd appreciatte any extra help I can get. I want to purchase a kit that connects to 3 inch collectors off of my Pacesetter Long Tunes. I would like a tighter fit for clearance issues, but would still like the pipes to run at 3 inches all the way to the "X", then dump before the axles.

Would you or anyone mind posting a direct link to a cost effective kit, that I can take to a shop or I can put on on without too much fabrication. Direct fit is mainly what I'm looking for.

Thank you,

Matt

EDIT: Every time I try and narrow "X pipe kit" results by year, no 1998 selection appears.

You aren't going to have a "direct fit"..if you look at mine you can see where I took some old pieces and cut them up to where it all fits together.

Here is what I used on Summit..found it in like a minute searching..

I did see that kit when I was searching Summit, but I was looking for a "direct fit"...maybe that's why I couldn't find it, haha. Thank you for your time, I know it's hard dealing with new people and probably the same questions, but I'm just here to learn as much as possible.

I was just under the impression that someone made a direct fit kit with bullet mufflers that dumped before the axle...guess I was wrong.

Thanks man,

Matt

EDIt: Checked out your Cardomain page, nice fitment with those pipes and all the aftermarket suspension mods.

Yes someone does make a direct fit with those pacesetter headers you have and that's TSP True Dual system. It's 3" and Dumped at the Axle You can choose from 3 different bullet mufflers, here's the link: http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=196&catid=56

If you have any questions call TSP (Texas Speed and Performance)

Thanks man, got your PM also. Is this the only direct fit kit currently made?
