Default Painted and Installed LS6 intake. Definite HP increase.

Shitty cell phone pic. Batteries were smoked in my camera. And I like taking tons of pics of my installs. But the train was rolling, so I couldn't stop to get batteries.

Took me and a buddy (Trigger1) about 2 1/2 hours start to finish. Didn't really have no real problems. Used the write-up from LS1howto.com as a guide. He's done this before, so he was my guide. This dude rolled in with a killer idea. Brought over some old wire loom and cut that into 1 inch sections to put around the back 4 bolts so they didn't fall. ******* genius! Didn't break the oil pressure sending unit, but I bought one pre-install anyways, just to have in case we did. Once the old intake was off, there was all sorts of dirt and **** underneath it on the valley. How the **** does that stuff get in there?! Definite having the right tools for the job helped. Also what would have helped would be to have skinny *** arms and not have big sausage fingers. And those God-forsaken screws hanging down out of the cowl for the weather stripping. Those things hacked up both of our arms. Looks like a rabid cat just attacked. Fired it up the first time, no codes or no leaks, hunted for an idle for a few seconds and settled right in.

Went for a test drive, and I could definitely feel a HP increase. Butt dyno gives it a thumbs up. I think it helped already having a full exhaust done to help things out. We have all read about the HP increase on a cammed car from going from a LS1 to a LS6. Itching to cam it out now.

Props to Tyler, if you weren't there, I probably would have never tried this on my own. You da man, don't let anybody tell you different.

Pretty straight forward install like you said, no hang ups or anything. The painted intake looks really good IMO. As for those pins they use to hold the weather stripping down what a PITA. I can't think of anything I've done on my car that has resulted in my arms/hands being more tore up than an intake swap! Over winter we need to get a cam in that bad boy then down to Bill for some tuning!

Is there a write up on how to prep/paint or what paint to use?

Hey that looks just like mine I did about a year ago.

I don't know if there is a write-up but I listed the paint I used in this post.

Did the same thing to my arms finishing up my H/C. Looks like i got attacked by my fricken cat. Still have marks on my arm and this was a few weeks ago. All in good fun though... enjoy your new found power, and the 200 bucks you saved on an install..

Yep, Duplicolor paint per the writeup. I did the manifold in a hotel room while on a job assignment. Painted it on the balcony of the room.
