Question Borla exhaust system?

Is the "Cat-Back Exhaust System, High Quality T304 Stainless Steel, Mandrel Bent Piping, Single Round Rolled Angle-Cut Tip, Split Rear Exit" system a good system to buy for my 01' formula? worth $700?

I want to know everyones opinion before going through with this order, so what does everyone think?

if you wanna look at it for yourself or want to buy it it's hereActive Auto Parts

Anyone know of somewhere cheaper maybe?

The Borla is a love or hate setup.

Personally I think it is very well made, but I hate the look of the tips. Not muscle car styling at all.

I also don't care for the sound or the basic principle of how the exhaust works. It has the ability to be adjustable, meaning you can add a plate to force more exhaust thrut eh muffler or vent straight out the other tip. This means an inbalance of db level from each tip. Plus an electric cutout on any other catback will perform the same job.

I also think it's expensive, for that kind of money I personally would look at the Stainless Works Chambered exhaust or the GMMG.

But we are all different so it may be that you prefer the Borla.

www.ls1sounds.com has clips of most exhaust setups.

I have the 3" Adjustable cat-back borla system on my 2001 SS, it's nice depending upon the sound you want. As of right now all of my plates are taken out and at christmas I'm going to go to the Texas True Dual system. Like it was said above with most people it's a hate it or love it thing, if you'd like i could try and get a short video and upload it within the next 2 days. Just search around other sites that 830 something is almost the same price that the slpstore sells it for.

borla is a good exhaust no doubt. but those are some of the ugliest looking tips ever. some people have started calling it the $800 cut-out.

I have a borla and it is an amazingly high quality exhaust. I personally love the tips, thats actually my favorite part, I'm not quite sure why so many people detest them. The sound is extremely unique and I would say by far is the most "different" sound you could go with. I have had a borla on stock manifolds, after headers with an ORY, and after headers with a catted y pipe. The only setup I havn't loved was with the ORY.

HOWEVER:

If you are willing to fork out this kind of cash for an exhaust you mght as well go GMMG if you want a catback system. Every system has its downfalls, and GMMG's only downfall is its price. Most people consider it the "perfect" CB. There are about 3 people on these boards that will tell you otherwise

I've got the borla. THere has been a lot of discussion about this on here. (search)

I concider it quiet (no plate) till I get on it. At night, when there is little traffic, If I get on it I can hear it echoing off buildings.

I've heard that it's the closest to dual exh sound as you can get. When it's idling it's quiet and goes thru the muffler, about 40%. When you get o n it and it needs the flow, it goes thru the pass side open pipe and really wakes up.

Add LT's and the WOT volume is incredible. THe idling volume is almost the same between stock manifolds and LT's.

ok well a lot of flip flopping on my part but I think I have come the the final conclusion on Borla at $653 from Car Stuff plus the $150 fee for putting it on at a shop. so final total at about $800.... not bad? then saving for LTs, OTP cutout, tranny cooler, and new torque converter with neutral-lockout shifter and lid.

Not GMMG because they don't take CC on their site and I couldn't find the system anywhere....anyone know why?

i think borla sounds like a farm truck with a hole in its muffler with tips even uglier than the sound. every time i see them i want to

but that's my opinion.

www.ls1sounds.com/

you can only buy GMMG through GMMG's website.

I think he was talking about the nonadjustable one with the single round tips people. I've never heard this one so can't comment. I have the adjustable one and like it. And don't listen to anyone running 13.60's in an LS1.

Mine was on my car when I was bought it luckily. I never thought of the Borla before, but now that I have it, I LOVE the sound of it, and want to keep it on there for as long as possible.
