The FTRA is not the same as the SLP CAI. The FTRA is built better, includes a block off plate, removable front seal, better mounting hardware, instructions and most importantly, directly routes air off the of lower air dam into a sealed air box. You will see better throttle response, fuel economy and performance.

Yes, they are both made of stainless steel. Beyond that, there are important differences that contribute to the performance difference you will see from an FTRA vs the SLP CAI

I can't speak for the SSRA, but with the FTRA, you will find that your air filter does get dirtier faster. For that reason, we recommend a K&N washable air filter and checking the condition of it with each oil change.

We do include a block off plate with the FTRA if you want to disable the kit should you need to travel on dirt/gravel roads etc.

I have the FTRA and I just drive carefully through large puddles and heavy rain, just like I would if I didnt have it. It wasnt a real big gain like LTs or so, but I did notice better throttle response, a little better top end, and better MPG. It doesnt heatsoak like some people say, or at least I havent had any problems. The block off plate is a great feature and I usually change my paper filter every 5000 miles or less, doesnt get too dirty, but still its just like $6 bucks for a new filter.

Is the FTRA worth anything on a WS6, or would it just cause the air to be more turbulent?

It comes with a foam piece that goes where the usual RamAir would enter to the lid/airbox and blocks the air flow. I cant speak from experience since I dont have a WS6, but Ive heard it helps WS6/SS models too.

Yes it will benefit all models V6 and V8. The factory hoods really do nothing for performance.

That is why the WS6 has the taller lower air box.. you should see my stock lower air box on my Trans Am. can barely put 1 finger under it. I now have a WS6 hood being made and i bought the lower WS6 air box. I can fit my whole hand under it. So it does so something. ALLOWS MORE AIR
