Default New intake lid?

I was wondering if anyone knows how much, or even if there is a difference between the slp lid and the whisper lid (power wise). I have never seen them in person so I was wondering which you all prefer.

There was an article in a GM mag that tested numerous lids.I believe all were within 1 hp of each other.I would purchase based on fit.I recently replaced my old lid with an slp and it fits nice and snug.

I've never seen a Whisper lid in person, but I'll personally vouch for the quality of the SLP lid. Nice, heavy plastic, and fits very well. Nice tight seal around the air filter, which is exactly what you want.

I've had my Whisper on for 2 years and 32,000 miles, and it looks the same as when I put it on. No cracks, didn't rub on the stock hood and doesn't rub on the WS.9 hood, and fits pretty tight.

How many times have we all heard this saying..."a lid is a lid is a lid is a lid!" Some people have fitment issues as did I but I fixed it by changing from a K&N to a paper filter and now it fits like a glove even with a smooth bellow.

If a lid is a lid then why did you bother replacing yours? And you do know that a paper filter is a lot more restrictive than a K&N.

I replaced my air filter not my lid...and my paper filter works just as good as the K&N did. Nuff said

a lid is a lid is a lid is a lid is a lid is a lid.

thats it. they are all the same and give you just about the same power gains. pick the one YOU think flows better and get the cheap one. i like my clear MTI lid because its clear and i'm sure it flows just the same as all the rest. althought the fittment isnt the best.thats all

go with a lid that you think looks the nicest because they all give the same power increases.

any aftermarket lid is as good as the next, but they are all an improvement over stock. stock lid was designed to slow the camaro down, and put the corvette on top, cuz they had the same engine.

And as soon as you'd like to provide the unbiased flow data to prove that, I'll stick with my paper filter. Sounds like K&N's marketing got to you too It gets to a lot of people.

Performance-wise, I'd agree that a lid is a lid. But quality-wise, I couldn't disagree more. I've had four different lids in the time I've owned this car:

1. The stock Donaldson Blackwing lid (optioned from SLP)
2. LS1 Motorsports Direct-Flo Lid
3. TSP 85mm lid
4. SLP aftermarket lid

In terms of quality and fit, the original Donaldson Blackwing was by far the best...it was OEM quality. Kinda wish I had kept it. The Direct Flo lid didn't seal very well and was flimsy, as was the TSP 85mm lid. The TSP lid cracked on me right under where the clips hold it down. The SLP aftermarket lid fits better than either of those two did, but still isn't made with the high-quality mold the Blackwing lid had.

Well, that's about as unbiased as it gets as far as data goes I actually just run panty-hose at the track...that netted me a full 5 MPH in the quarter.

I cut a full second off my 60ft with the panty hose mod, then i added a K&N with the panty hose and traveled thru time

I have that exact same problem...seems like every time I hit 88MPH, I end up back in my garage.
