Default Cats Or No Cats ??????

I Have A 99 Ta And I Am Having An Obx Header System Installed. Over All The Kit Is Very High Quality From The Doughnut Gaskets To The Header Gaskets. My Only Problem Is What I Thought Where Cats Are Actually Resinators. The Guy At The Performace Shop Said My Car Will Be Very Loud. I Already Have A Magnaflow Cat Back System On The Car And Thought It Sounded Nice. I Know I Can Pass The Inspection Since My Buddy Owns An Inspection Station And The Resinators Look Like Cats. Does Anybody Have Any Suggestions. Thanks For Any Info.

What exactly do you want answered? I'll take a stab though...

With resonators where the cats were, it shouldn't make it too much louder, but it will get a little raspier.

Let me know how you find the system. I am interested to hear how it works for you. Are you going to dyno it?

I will try to dyno sometime in the near future. I am also Having a 3:73 rear put in at the same time. I guess I will just have to wait and hear the car for myself. If I like the sound does anyone know which sponser site would have the O2 sims so I will not have the ses light on all the time. thanks

Get the magnaflow metallic spun-cats. The flow like 570-590cfm a piece. I had them when I had macs and loved the way the exhaust sounded with the open cutouts(no rasp). I switched to LT's and ORYP and am just saving to install another set or the magnaflow cats.
5rwhp or nicer sound?....me, I'll chose the nicer sound

Get the metallic cats from EADPerformance. They actually lessen the sound less than alot of bullets. I think they reduce sound by 3dB's, wheras the dynomax bullets im have reduce sound by like 4dB's... and will sound much nicer and deeper. Plus they flow 570-590 cfm like stated ^^, which doesnt even restrict hp till like close to 500 hp. And then u dont have to worry about being illegal or passing emmisions... somethin to think about.

If you don't want to spend the money on the metallic core, just get the Magnaflow cats that are ceramic core. They are only around $50 each and will not cost you more than a handful of hp. It's better to run cats imo because of less rasp, less smell of gas, and cleaner emissions.
