make sure the intake is not cracked around the intake bolts areas. they have been known to do this, and whistle.

Did you buy it used? A lot of guys sell them used and don't warn the buyer about the special button head screws required for the valley cover to prevent cracking the bottom part of the FAST manifold.

There are butten head screws that replace the ones in the valley cover. The instructions to put them in are on the top of page 3. Have you checked your idle vacuum? If you didn't use the bolts, the bottom is likely cracked. You may need to pull it, check the bottom, and fix with JB Weld if it is cracked. Change the valley bolts at the same time.

If someone can send me a good digital pic of the front opening of the intake I will repost it with an arrow in the area that needs to be modified to cure your whistling ailments.....I always hated that whistle....found it kind of annoying.

I may even have a 78 banging around AFR somewhere I can snap a pic of.

I have a 90mm fast and a 90mm NW tb. This was installed with a FM 13 and the intaked whistled all the time, car sounded like it was supercharged. Had to have the engine rebuilt but kept the same combo. After it was put back together it never whistled.

Is this design 'flaw' only found on the 78mm FAST intakes or is it the same on the 90mm as well?

My car whistles too. Although, its got a stock LS1 intake that has never been touched. I ported my TB and it whistles for a second when you give it gas. I did change to the WS6 lower ram air box at the same time though. My hood is cut where you can see straight into the MAF (clear lid). Its a faint whistle and more like a sucking sound. I really like it!!!!

Did you leave something that would cause a turbulent swirl of air going through the TB? Or port out around the butterfly?
