Don't worry about the heat soak guys. It is happening, but not enough to make a difference. This is also why you don't see people running around town with their sheetmetal intakes. If I were you I would stick with the for sale section on this board and get an LS6 intake. So many people are switching to the FAST these days, it should be an easy find.

There is a reason...it flows better than the LS6 or the Weiand. It's overkill for an LS1 unless you've got a pretty decent sized cam or head/cam combo. Remember that the more HP you start off with, the more HP a FAST intake (or any intake for the matter) will give you. If you really want to spend the extra $1100 for the extra 5 RWHP that the 90/90 FAST combo will give you over an LS6 then go ahead. If you think about it then it's around $900 extra since you would spend $300 on a used LS6 anyways. It's just something you won't have to upgrade later down the road once you start making bigger numbers. I found a used 90 on this board for $600 then bought my TB for $400 and got $425 back for selling my LS6 and ported TB...overall it cost me $575...not bad at all.

The vq engines from Nissan all have aluminum intakes.
Honda uses aluminum intakes.
The Xjz engines in the supras have aluminum intakes.
Hell I don't even think there is a plastic intake out for the LT1/4 and there are a shitload of those guys making GREAT hp/tq and running low low times.
I just don't think the air sits in the intake long enough to make a difference. Just like with the tb bypass.
