Default port your own TB?

How many people have ported their own throttle body? I'm thinking my dad can handle the job. He ported and polished the heads on my old monte and recently ported and polished some heads for a BBC. Am I totally off in thinking he can handle this job? I know they are completely different parts (TB and heads) but same concept right? Shoot me back some info if I'm wrong.

It's not a big deal to do. I did mine about a yr ago, and a buddy of mines as well. I'm sure your dad could do it.

Here's a pic...

coolness. That thing looks nice. I think I just found a link on how-to. Might have to be my BIG winter project, lol. Don't laugh, I'm buying a house and planning a wedding so don't have much for mod money right now.

It is the same concept, just don't port the small area where the blade rests against the housing when the throttle is shut. If you do then too much air will get around the blade while it's shut and your IAC will be fully shut to try and compensate but it won't be enough and the car will idle high (I made this mistake once).

did my own in 2.5 hours. As said above, just be sure to watch where you take out the metal near the blade.

I just noticed that the car revs quicker. i havent driven the car yet due to it being winter. I just put it on last night with the addition of headers. so im not sure what the actual gain from the tb would be but ive heard about 5-10hp and a tenth in the 1/4.

I ported mine, turned out great. Just don't port to much in the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock areas. Looks like you have alot of meat to port on the inside, but the casting is thin there.

Most report better throttle response and it's good for around 5 rwhp.
