i ran my switch to the ashtray, no one ever knows its there unless i open the tray lid. I just ran the wiring through the shift boot and center console.

Mine is next to the seat, by the seat adjuster buttons. It pulls power off of the seat power supply, which is a good location. At this location, you can disconnect the wires with a connector, and wire the cutout in on the dead side. Using this method, you won't even have to disconnect the battery.

That circuit uses pretty heavy wire and is fuse protected to handle quite a bit (electric motor for the seats). Just don't run the seat at the same time as you're moving the cutout.

If you watch the video of mine, you'll see the button mounted at the end, and it shows me closing it. I installed an e-cutout on a friends Borla and put the switch in the same spot as mine.

Video is on the bottom right.

I'm rather proud of this mini switch I found at radio shack. I have it wired to some heavy gauge wire running to the back to power the amps. It has it's own fuse hidden under the console. Fits in that small spot in the ashtray so there is room for other switches if needed.

Cant get much more stealth than this... Except this is an 87 Trans AM...and not a convertable. Haha. So much other stuff going on in the car no one ever notices that it says "TOP".

Sorry for the blurry pic...

Justin

Edit: Oh...and info on how to wire it up...

Check the wire to make sure it has 12v... Not sure if the fuse block is set up for TCS if your car doesnt have it. But it may be. If not, just tap into the cig lighter wire. That should work too. The idea is just to find a power wire that is close and convenient to tap into. If you have a test light or a multimeter just check whatever wire you want to use, and make sure it has 12v. If you want it to work with out the key in, make sure it has 12v without the key in... if you want it to only work with the car on... well you get the idea.

To get the top plate (shifter plate) off, you open the console lid. Take out the coin holder. Take out the two screws. Then just gently start lifting up on the plate. There are a few little tabs that snap in along the sides. That should do it. Also dont forget you'll have wires behind the lighter socket so unplug those before you give it a yank. But thats it... only two little screws hold it in along with the tabs.
