temp sensor borke off in head.... what do i do? i just replaced my temp sensor because my old one got broke while i was putting on my headers, and as i tightened down the sensor it snapped off. first of all how do i take it out to replace it and is the car drivable with out i ton. my car has never over heated but i didnt know if it would throw a code and make the not driveable.
the old one is on the left and the new one is on the right. it broke cleanly off so i have nothing to grab a hold of.

you should be able to drill the center out, maybe with a right angle drill. Then use an ez out and back out the threaded part. a few shavings might get in the head, but it is in the coolant passage and what little there will be will not hurt anything.
Use some grease on the drll and take it slow once you are about to break through.
The PCM does use the Temp sensor reading to control mixture.. but it should be able to run, a SES code most likely will be trigered.

Mine broke off in there the same way. The tube that's in your head is hollow, and soft, so you can just stick an Ease-Out in there and remove it, should come out easily. Be VERY gentle putting the new one in.

thanks every one. i went and bought a set of eazy outs and i stuck one in there and it came out by me using my hand. i was worried over nothing really but its my baby and i know you all feel the same way about your cars
