A couple of questions:

The '02 doesn't have EGR?

Would the AIR system have anything to do with running too rich in lower RPM's/start-up?

It really has very little to do with drivability, right?

Thanks!

GM got rid of the EGR valve for 01 and 02.

What the AIR (Air Injection Reaction) pump does is pump fresh air into the hot manifolds to get the catalytic converters up to temperature quicker to reduce harmfull emisions during the warm up time.

It should not effect drivability.

I think he wants to know if fresh air on the o2s would make your car run rich.

Correct me if i'm wrong, I think that the computer actually has a time table for the AIR system just like it does for the EGR. I think while the AIR is on the system has a small time table to correct fuel/spark. I might be dreaming, I know it does for the EGR. Either way the duration of the AIR is soo short, it never runs into closed loop.

What do you plug it with? Any pics of it?

ok I pulled this AIR system out, but when taking out the T-filter or whatever it is on the back of the INtake where the hoses meet I pulled the vacuum hose off whatever it was attatched to the back of the intake. I cant seem to find what it was connected to from the intake to the hose. Anyone have any idea where and what it is? I never "plugged" it up, so not sure what this will affect if I dont.

I just did mine, I pulled out that 3 way piece and capped off the vaccum line that lead to the solenoid.

Not at all. It will just pollute the atmosphere for a minute or two until the cats come up to temp by themselves.

No problem. I wish I had it when I took mine off. I followed the ls1 how to site for the LS1 to LS6 conversion and it pretty much only said to BE CAREFUL while removing the intake. If I new what was back there it would have not taken me 30 minutes of LIFTING and slowly inching the intake forward and feeling behind it to see what was there.

I did this when i did my headers this past weekend, my car seems like it is running super rich (Can really smell gas when driving slow). Do i need to plug up the wire that went into the top of the three way fitting? I got the SES light today after driving all week I am thinking that a tune will help all of this out.

removing AIR shouldn't make it run any differently but yea, you should plug all vacuum lines that are open. you probably just need to plug that line and get a tune.

Did you remove the entire AIR system? If so the "wire" (actually it is a vacuum line) you talk about that went from the "T" fitting to the AIR shut off valve (canister) and should have been removed along with everything else.

As far as the gas smell did you mess with the fuel rails?
