Burns oil with headers
Burns oil with headers My headers have been installed for about 300 miles now and I just noticed it's down about 1/2 quart of oil.
I removed the AIR and cats at the same time.
Haven't been driving it any different.
Put about 16,000 miles on the car and it's never burnt one bit of oil.
It only has 39,000 on it.
Anyone ever hear of this problem?

my car has 47k and i just installed qtp header ory no cats and my car smoked like crazy after it sat for 10 hours..... someone said that the cat's clean out the smoke which is why i never saw it before??? also same guy told me that our car are prone to burning oil
I haven't seen smoke. I've known about the issues with these cars burning oil, I have probably the worse case of piston slap/valvetrain noise ever heard (posted it several times) everyone seems to agree that noise and oil burning are common but my car never used a drop of oil before. Now in the last 300 miles with headers the oil level has gone down.

i also just installed long tubes with a ory y-pipe, air and egr delete. when i first started the car i noticed smoke and now when i get on it i see some in the rear view, my car never did this before and has never used oil. i don't know

does any one on here have any info on the smoking after headers and ory install? today i was sitting in a cloud of smoke after i nailed it at a stop light and came to a stop using mostly engine braking. my car only seems to smoke when i'm engine braking. i never had this problem before the header/ory install. does a catch can help any? something on the PCV worn? something got knocked loose on the install? 
headers need to burn off any chemicals, fluids from being produced / installed, takes a few heat cycles to get everything off.
you should have a catch can even before headers to keep oil off out the intake and combustion, they are very helpful.

i had 70000 on my bottom end did heads and cam headers all that good crap and never used a drop of oil. i would go 5000 miles before i changed it and it was still full. cant say that ive had this problem

i'm not talking about burn off i know what that is. my headers have been on for a little over a month. i'm talking about smoke coming out of the exhaust. my car never smoked until the header install. i can drive around all day normal and it doesn't smoke. only when get the rpm's up high (5k-6k rpm's) and use engine braking then it smokes. i can take it to the rev limiter and not use engine braking and it doesn't smoke at all. i know that this is oil because the somke is blue.
