Default 01 or 02 Z06 MAF? Or keep stock one??

I just had my Cartek heads and cam installed and am expecting over 400rwhp. Since I will be getting dyno tuned by BV Performance soon, I wanted to know if I should get a larger Z06 MAF AND if so, what year? Or just leave what I have????

I already have ported my TB and smoothed out the lip/wall by the IAC.

Any help is appreciated and I will plan on buying it ASAP.

Thanks
Brad

I think the jury is still out on the 85mm MAF. If you went with an agresive H&C package and will be spinning high rpms, it might be worth trying, although I only expect a few HP. I'm going to try the SLP MAF (bought second hand) on my new set-up.

From what I've read during the maaaaaaaaaaaaany posts on this topic; the ported stock MAF is more than adequate to flow 400 rwhp

By ported do you mean removing the center aluminum divider? My MAF is descreened only. The rest of it is stock. I did a search, and found a lot about people having problems with aftermarket MAFs, but not a lot about how much a stock one can flow.
Thanks
Brad

I think BV is a fan of the 85mm MAFs, did you ask Brian?

Dremel those aluminum dividers and MAFT or LS1Edit your chit dude

Too many people complain about problems with aftermarket MAF's.

I talked to BV, and he said they seem to work. I have also talked to some shops and they are running a stock MAF on their stock cubes 10 sec car. This is a big half say yes, half say no.... I have however pretty much confirmed that strokers need a bigger MAF.

How is removing the center sections of the maf any different than buy in the replacement ends? Not being a smart azz, but isn't that just about all the replacement ends are? I can have that done to mine realy easy on a lathe. The electronics will still get a little goofed up by showing less air flow than actual because it will be flowing slower due to more area?????

I don't care about spending the money, just want to do it once and be done. Don't want problems. 1 or 2 hp is not worth it to me. 5 will be for the minimal cash.

Isn't a lot of the gains from a MAF due to leaning the car out? With proper tuning, a MAF should only help if it was a restriction in the flow. Yes?No??????

On our flowbench test a 85mm screened maf will easily handle a head/cam car with little pressure drop....and the screen makes for better part throttle tuning for the fbod. (I know the new zo6 deletes the screen ) That's what I would use...removing the screen and more programming probably would show a little more hp on a Superstroker but not a head/cam setup.

The shop I use has had best results with stock/descreened. Otherewise people are too lean.
