Default Question about Mufflex 4"

Would the Mufflex 4" be too big for a car that will most likely only get a cam in the future?

I ran with my Mufflex 4" before I did a cam, ran better than with a Borla wide open. Sounds good too. After heads/cam, I'm scared to take the cats off the car, it would be sick loud. :eek

It'll sound great with just the catback. With headers and off road pipes, some will say its too loud. With a 220+ duration cam, it will chop pretty good

I've got the 3.5" Mufflex.

The 4" Mufflex is a nice system. I highly recommend the Spintech muffler; it sounds GREAT! I had one on my '98 T/A 383 when I sold it. I had a 3.5" Mufflex w/ the dual-outlet Spintech on my SS, and it got too loud for me. I put the SLP dual/dual on, and I did notice an increase in low-end torque from the switch. With the stall I'm running now, low-end torque is meaningless now. The Spintech has a GREAT sound to it, but you'd better like it loud. I had mine w/ FLP headers and ORP's, and it was pretty damn loud w/ the Vig 3200.

what would be the sound difference between the spintech and the flowmaster mufflers, besides the flowmaster is louder?

Very similar tone but only that one is a little louder than the other. They both sounded exactly the same to me on Mufflex's website with their soundclips of the LS1.

My friend and I had the 4 inch mufflex. He had the Spintech with dual out and I had the flowmaster with the single out. At idle there virtualy identical. Give it a quick rev and only a slight difference. The Flow a little louder. WOT and the Flowmaster was louder than the Spintech. The 2 of them have a real deep throaty sound even at idle. 2 me it's a sound like no other.

The mufflex is an excellent system. It's something different that most don't have on the street. I'd say for a stock car and cam you'll be happy. Just make sure you get a good shop to install it. That over the axle pipe is a real PITA to get in. If that pipe doesn't sit in there perfect, your going to have issues with it hitting the rearend axle tube. Just have the shop take there time with that particular pipe.

Which one would have less rasp to it? I'd think the spintech would have less, but who knows, maybe not.

The Spintech has a lot less rasp. I ran mine with no cats and didn't get the rasp like you hear with the Flowmaster.

The Spintech will have slightly less rasp. I used have the 3.5" Mufflex and loved it. It sounded sweet with the Grots and 3" ORP.

Thanks guys. When I get my exhaust done I'm either getting true duals or 4" Mufflex.
