Default Burger Motorsports Ram Air

This is a take on the old LS1.COM "cold air" setup. I used dual 6" hoses to feed from the facia vent holes, right up in to the air box via FTRA. It cost around $20, took 2hrs from start to finish, and probably works as well or better than the FTRA. Here are a few snapshots of the setup.

The final product is hard to see as I wrapped it up in black duct tape / painted it black. It looks pretty clean. I don't believe that these ram air setups really do much for even the high hp cars like mine, but with this setup it was only $20 to find out, and I didn't have to move my huge trans cooler.

Looks good. Without the front bumper, the grill holes sure give you a nice straight shot of cool air to the airbox. I'm curious to see how it works out for you. I'm going to use the same flex tubing, but route it into an airbox with the dry ice & electric motor. Who knows, it might actually work.

Are you trying to use super-cooled air to get a denser charge? Sounds like a you'll have a Rube Goldberg contraption in the limited space between the front of your car and the MAF.

LOL! Raughammer has had that setup for over a year now. It looks pretty ghetto and we tease him about the appearance of it (hehe).

Why not just remove the front facia completely and leave it off? That way it would match your removed hatch. Perhaps a cardboard front end? LOL!

Terry you should put a nice GW screen or something over the front to hide the gaping nostrils. Interested to hear how it works.
Obviously this isnt for those with bumper supports

I could put the stock black insert back in, and probably will. I just left it out for a photo shoot.

I know is can't be by 18 because mine is at 14.5 and is just about side to side of the air box (minus 1/4 inch). I'm also not sure that it can be by 3 inches either...I made mine the absolute biggest I could and still fit with my trans cooler. I made mine from the ground up. It came in at 2 inches by 14.5 inches.

I mean the "scoup" size. it looks like yours is about 3.5"x15" scoup by the pictures.

Oh sorry Terry I thought you were talking about the place it enters the air box. My scoop is about 17 inches by 6 inches at the mouth. iIn the very back of the openning at the place it looks like it does a 90 degree up. I put a peice of rolled medal so it does not make a 90 degree turn but ther air goes up a curve.

It's such a good idea I'm sure others have done it before. If the quickest 346ci NA guy on the board is running it, it must be worth something.

Ghetto or not there is no doubt that will help route cool air in.

I give it a thumbs up. Nothing wrong with function over form.

A nice grill over the front to protect from sucking in leaves/rocks/etc... and your set.

That setup looks like it would block a lot of air from the radiator. 95 degree plus Houston weather might cause overheating problem!
