if i take the emissions system off of my car.............
..........I know I'll have a check engine light but will it affect how my car runs if i remove the Air Pump,EGR,Cats and rear O2 sensors. I'm going to be putting race style headers on my car and i will be without a tune for a month or so. But i was wondering if it'd be safe to drive and would it be worth a trip to the track before i get it tuned, I figured that the air pump and egr probally wouldn't affect much but i'm thinking the rear O2's might mess with fuel trim wouldn't they? If anyone with more knowledge on this subject could help enlighten me a bit it'd be greatly appreciated, I'm wondering if i should wait till i can get the computer tuned right away. Also how would it affect gas mileage(i know stupid question) to ride around with all of those codes set.
Thanks!

I drove around with race style headers, not cats,no air,..., for a month with codes before I finished my mods and got a tune. I did not pay attention to fuel mileage though, cause I was in love with all the noise that month and I am sure my foot caused it to go way down.

it will be fine. just make sure you put sims in your rear O2's untill you get it tuned, or it will run like ****. i took my EGR, AIR, cats and put sims in my rear O2's and i still average 26MPG. no change at all in gas mileage. and it certinally didnt hurt performance.

ok no problem then,i didnt know if the rear o2's would affect fuel trim b/c i know on some other vehicles they do. i'm a tech at a chrysler dodge jeep dealership and on the newer vehicles like the LX model vehicles i know they affect short term fuel trim
