Default Which exhaust is most tame at idle but loud/mean at WOT?

For right now it will be with stock exhaust manifolds and Y but will soon be with pacesetter LT and ORY or possibly catted Y. I want as little rasp as possible and it has to sound good with both stock and LT systems. I was going to go with hooker but just read some comments on the LM2 that have me thinking twice. From what I have read the hooker and magnaflow sound about the same but I dislike the hooker tips less, I really don't like the 3.5" magnaflow tips. I am on a budget and would like to be under $350 but don't mind buying a used system.

Thanks,
Matt

I'm liking my Magnaflow catback. I'm like you and don't really care for the tips but as far as sound goes it's ideal for a tame idle/ctuise and it really sings at WOT. And it doesn't drone on the highway.

My cousin is running a borlamouth stup but if he ever puts on LT's or gears, he's going to change it. I've noticed that bullet setups drone like crazy on the highway and generally have an rpm range where they sould like hell. They're loud, but annoying IMO. I also ran a LM2 on my 94 Z. I'll never do it again.

Check with the SV's on price. I ended up getting in on a group buy for about your budget.

any of the straight through mufflers borla magnaflow hooker lm1and2 act are all gonna be loud and raspy as hell with lts and ory.get a flowmaster and a cutout to open at the track snd you will be happy.
most people here trash flowmaster but the only dyno comparisons ive seen show the flowmaster to make like 3-5hp less than the others.

QTP longtubes with an offroad ypipe and SLP dual/dual muffler with a DMH electric cutout and corsa premium tips. Perfect exhaust for me. I like it....

I have magnaflow with a stock manifolds and y (not for long) but I was looking for the same thing as you and I am not disapointed. When im just cruising nobody even hears me. but if i get at it it screams.

"Little8" on here has magnaflow and pacesetters and it doesnt sound too loud when idling... pm him and maybe he can get you some video.

As for the tips... I thought 3.5 inches was too big too but its not that bad at all. I like them now. Here are some pics:
