Default CME exhaust ?'s

i have a 01 ss with cme and i just ordered lm1 from ws6store. i called slp and they said that you have to do a little fabbing to get the stock cme tips and elbows to fit on the kit. anyone ever try this?? and since i will have the exhaust off for awhile is there any downside to running no catback for a few days?

I think you wanted the External section...but ok.

There shouldn't be a problem running straight out of the y-pipe for a few days. It'll be rather loud, but it should be fine. Problems arise when fresh air gets too close to the front oxygen sensors....causes all kinds of fueling troubles.

As for the CME working with the LM1, it will require a little fabrication as the LM1 splits through a Y after it comes over the axle (unlike the stock exhaust which splits inside the muffler under the gas tank). So, getting the two sides to line up with the CME will probably take some spare pipe, a little welding, and maybe a few clamps even. Not a big deal, but worth taking it to a respectable exhaust shop (who knows what they're doing).

A good exhaust shop can do anything. I've had Corsa, SLP, and Hooker mufflers welded up to my CME pipes.

plenty of people on here have run open y or open headers. shouldnt give you any trouble for just doing it for a couple days. the only problem you will hae is keepn the fillings in your teeth in cuz it is loud as hell and will vibrate the hell out of the inside of the car.

If you've done some searching on the CME setup, you'll quickly find that (as already stated), it can be mated to anything, even a true dual setup like I have. Just, for the love of God and all that is Holy, PLEASE make sure they get the damn tips straight and not sitting too low. Otherwise, it'll look like ***. I lived with crooked tips for a while, and it bothered the hell outta me.

I just took mine to an exhaust shop had them fab it up, worked out fine and cost around $100. Just tell them what you want and dont settle for anything less.
