i'm looking around for oil filters and i'm confused when it comes to a stock sized oil filter and a longer oil filter (a truck filter that fits an LS1). aside from being longer and possilby screwing up clearance issues (doubtful) is there any real difference in using a longer filter??

I've been using them for years. It gives you a little more oil capacity.

I used the PF59 for a few years now and it's fine. It does sticks out a little but I never hit anything with it yet.

I use the K&N HP2006 also. But I think I'm switching back to the short filter. The nut on the bottom has caved in a bit from driving... speed bumps and a lowered car perhaps? Anyway, it makes me nervous enough to switch back.

The Wix 51522, also sold as the NAPA Gold 1522 is a good long filter -- specially if you have long tubes. I doesn't sit lower than the lowest tube on my Pacesetters either so no worry about hitting it.

PF59 is now PF46 both have anti-drainback
PF58 is now PF61 no anti-drainback
PF61 & PF46 are only different in the anti-drainback

The Napa Gold 1522 is also a great filter to use.

i run microgaurd. honestly, as often as most of us change our oil, it doesnt really matter I dont think................
