FIPK hood down - DYNO - question & graph
Has anyone else bothered with a similar test?
It is true the IAT temperatures are higher with the FIPK vs a lid, and that helps explain a lot.

If what I have observed is accurate, the expectation is that off of the line performance is likely to be affected by the the possibilty of higher intake air temps.
Otherwise power is equal or better than the lid. You no longer have to deal with an ill fitting aftermarket lid. I have tried two of them and neither of them have left a postive overall impression.
I use the LS1 K&N FIPK in my LS1 swap into my 97 firebird with a suncoast predator hood and it works GREAT.
I have the FIPK, and made improvements to it (or ratner my hood) and got cooler temps and better air flow. Wanna see pics? If desired, you can also modify the plate that sits over the radiator, and use the FTRA with the FIPK. Email me @ LucasHarp@EV1.net if you want pics.

I lost 5hp when I lowered the hood w/ the FIPK.. despite two fans and a vain attempt to provide extra air with a modified Fast Toys Ram Air setup. It also caused problems trying to tune with LS1 edit.

Put the lid back in.. all's well again.
