my car waqs built 11/97...asa far as performance there was an overall seat of pants feeling and the car spins easier.....

as far as 1/4 mile IDK ....my car bone stock was atleast3-4 tenths slower than the other ls1 cars with the same setup at the track....
mine was a4 2.73 geared stock and it was a dog off the line.....

If you can find a non moron working in pats at your local dealership they should be able to use your vin# and tell you which sensors are in the car....

visually the top of the sensors arte the only difference...I dont know why I didnt take pics??? I normally do on everything else...
The old sensos had a long skinny plug on them...a deepwell socket had to be used...the new ones plug is short and stubby kinda looks like a mushroom...and a shallow socket can be used....
I could try and get a pic of the old sensor and harness when this rain stops here....

are you sure its not 12/97? 12/98 would have been the 99 model year.

Yep. Its a 12/98 Build. I've always thought that also but on the title it says 98 and it has a few 98 specific features. I can't think of all of them right now but I know back when I broke the ECT Sensor (Engine Coolant Temp) there is a 98 specific one that I had to have whereas all the others were 99-02. Oh and I have a guy locally with HpTuners who has 98 and 00 vins and he was able to work on my pcm so I'm still assuming that its a factory 98. To bad I could have used the blueblook value...lol.

You can check for knock retard on a good scanner, Genesis like ours, etc.

After reading this thread I began researching the removal of the intake. I notice a TON of people seem to break the oil sending unit behind the intake. The question I have is how exactly does it get broken?

Does something snag on it when you pull the intake out?
Is it under the intake?

There has to be something specific that causes it to break. Trying to get as much info as possible to avoid joining the club.
