Default Meizere street EWP w/ stock inlet issues, What T-stat?

I have the meziere street EWP and the stock coolant inlet doesnt bolt up with the stock T-stat. The spacing is incorrect on the T-stat. What is needed to fix this issue? Thanks

You have to take out the stock thermostat from its housing...you reuse the housing (obviously) without the thermostat installed in it (not so obvious). You need to purchase an old school small block Chevy thermostat, and it goes in the other neck (at the very top of the pump as it is installed). You have to unscrew that neck, and the thermostat sits right behind it.

Be careful when reinstalling the inlet neck. There's not a lot of threads on the neck and also pump and neck are aluminum. Overtighten and you will strip the threads.

Read the directions as to where and why you should drill a hole in the old style thermostat.

The directions say where, but they never say why. Is there a reason besides letting the coolant flow through the thermostat at all times? I wasn't happy with my coolant temps with holes in my thermostat...once cruising down the road, it would cool down way too much with the holes there.

It helps to get the air out of the system. The holes aren't supposed to be that big. How cold were you running? My car runs 160-185F depending on ambient air temps.

If you're in the market for a t stat, do not buy the Mr Gasket, it will not fit the mesiere.

Like the guys have said, remove the old stat from it's housing and it will fit. Also, I ported the stock stat housing before reinstalling it. It seems to work fine like this, maybe better than unported.

It was cruising downwards of about 140* with ambient temps in the 40s-50s.

Two 3/16" holes is pretty substantial considering the size of the thermostat itself. I've not had any problems running thermostats without the holes as far as trapping air in the system is concerned.

thanks guys.

I love how the aftermarket companies just have to make something more complicated than what is needed...
