it would not be worth it to fill in the groves, they really are not that wide or deep.and with the temperature variations that the intake sees i dont know how long something would last in those thin grooves, but my guess is not to long.

I would be afraid to put anything in those ports as fear of small portions of it going into places that would become damaging, like making their way into the engine. The writeup is great though, very easy to follow. My moto, the more pictures, the better.

Great write-up I went ahead and did my FAST intake about a month ago. Did the same thing and everything went well although I was a little worried about grinding on 1000.00 dollar part also.

For $1,000 you'd think it would come without that wedge there.

The porting work is very nice and clean. There is more to port in the 90mm though
You did what I call a stage 1 port job -ussually $150 . Stage 2 is that and direct porting to the heads -$250 and then there is a full port which shortens the runners and short turn radiuses, mostly for bigger cube motors -$450.

I remember getting one of the first 78mm's when they came out.First thing I did was grind the runner's like you did thinking "hope this doesn't screw up the intake". That gained me 20rwhp too from a stock LS6.

Thats pretty cool, Hopefully mine will have the same results. I opened mine up the other night. Being able to take the intake apart makes things a hell of alot easier.

>Good info. The direct porting to the heads? Is that just portmatching really or is it more involved? When i checked how the ports lined up with the heads i was very suprised with how well they matched up.There was a very smooth transition from the intake to the heads no work needed.I thought i was gonna have to port match it to my heads but got lucky i guess.
