Default Should I do cam or boltons/appearance first?? NEED ADVICE!

Basically I sold my other DD car and will have $1,700 in hand in a few days. I was thinking about a TR220 cam/springs/pushrods/etc but the install will be $650 plus! So after tune and all, Just about all that money will be gone, and for what? 35rwhp maybe?? Doesnt seem worth it yet. OR I could go this route and buy this stuff:

Also keep in mind that I have a Lid coming int he mail today, JBA shorties going on in a few weeks, and a bullet and turndown going on soon too.

$272 Nitto DR's (street use 99% of the time)
$75 Ported TB (through a sponsor)
$40 Bullet muffler
$15 Turndown
$250 Mail Order Tune
$187 Hurst Billet shifter + short stick
$175 Brake Job
$45 tail light blackouts
$15 rear CAMARO inserts
$34 Smoked Turn Signals
$57 Smoked Headlight Covers
------
$1,165 + shipping

What do you all think??

Do the bolton's first. Save the appearence mod money and do a cam later.

bolts would be a better choice, you bought an LS1 for a reason right? All show and no go isnt what these cars are about. Plus, if your car sounds badass, who cares how it looks...

If its an M6 I would get a 12 bolt with a detroit locker, some good tires, and a set of the sponsored ebay longtubes with ORY.

try this
pacesetter lts 300 to your door
a bullet off each header turndowns maybe 100 bucks
WAIT4ME tune 100 bucks mine worked great for bolt ons
port your own tb
ls6 mani under 400
look for a cam in the f/s section i got cam and springs for 320 shipped and they are never used.....

save some cash and do all the work yourself....they are tons of people on this site that will assist you including myself.....

the jba shorties are worth 5hp over the stockers so id go longtubes

How much is a 12 bolt with detroit locker with 4.10 gears?? Is the detroit locker still streetable? This is my DD and I use the freeway every day as well.
- not a bad idea if it's a decent price...

Can't do longtubes, I'm in Ca. I got the JBA ceramic coated shorties for only $250, so I'm happy with that...

And I'm not getting the ls6 manifold anytime soon because I'd have to buy the SLP one with EGR hookups and that's over $500!!! Sucks livin in Ca...

And the JBA shorties may only be worth 5rwhp over 00-02 stockers, but the 98-99 manifolds are worse, so should be 5rwhp-10rwhp. And the more I mod, the more the headers will help obviously. Of course longtubes are WAY better, just can't have em in Ca...

I'm wondering if the weiand manifold would pass Ca smog visuals LOL. I'm serious, the smog guys out here are dicks and if they see anything that looks modified, they wont pass you without carb numbers. It's retarded. Anyone have any info on how much the weiand manifold flows compared to the ls6 manifold?

I may be wrong but I believe there are some ls6 manifolds that had an egr port.

yea there are, they are $500+ and they are made by SLP. I'd rather spend $500 elsewhere right now...

Headers, exhaust, LS6 intake, ported TB and you will be a happy camper. You will need all of these to optimize your cam potential anyways so why not get them done 1st. Once you get here you can figure how agressive of a cam you want to put in there. You should beable to get at least 50rwhp with a mild cam and near 100rwhp with a race cam setup. If your only expecting 35rwhp out of the cam you were thnking about then i would wait cause you might get that out of the mods your bolting on.

$272 Nitto DR's
Might be worth it depends on the tire you have now
$75 Ported TB
Purchase
$40 Bullet muffler
Purchase
$15 Turndown
Purchase
$250 Mail Order Tune
Waste of money
$187 Hurst Billet shifter + short stick
Purchase if you have a stocker
$175 Brake Job
Do it
$45 tail light blackouts
cheap do it
$15 rear CAMARO inserts
One of the best apperance mods i did on my car thus far
$34 Smoked Turn Signals
Smoked or clear depends on your desire
$57 Smoked Headlight Covers
Ehhh I wouldnt but make it your won

Hmm $150 for 10rwhp tune

OR

$500 for 10rwhp ls6 manifold

hmmm I think I'll pass on the ls6 manifold (for now)

You might want to check around your area for anyone that can tune. There is a guy locally here in AZ that charges 60 bucks for a basic tune. Just a thought.

How does the mail order work? Do they send you a reprogrammed CPU and you send them your back?

Usually you send your pcm in to them, they plug it in and change the parameters that need changed, then send it back to you.

Are you talking about getting that done after your exhaust work?

I'll probably get the tune asap, because updates are FREE forever, so whenever I get a new mod, I can get the tune redone...
