Default Can I put wideband O2 in place of stock O2?

I have Bosch wideband sensor (18x1.5 thread). Can I just screw it in place of each of the two stock sensors (and leave those disconnected) to check air/fuel ratio under load? Won't PCM change fuelling when it sees that one of the O2 sensors is disconnected?
Must be a newb question, I guess

read 4 pages but still didn't find if replacing NBO2 with WBO2 and not feeding 1V output to PCM will make PCM alter fuelling/ignition...

From what I have heard by a guy with a 6.0L in his truck; replacing a NBO2 with a WBO2 is not something you would want to do. Either put it in the rear O2 sensor or in his case weld a bung in there.

Don't see why should I weld another bung if all I want to do is put WB in for a few hours

because the WB is going to connect to your laptop or other data recording device, and the NB is still going to be feeding info to the car. What will you do with the NB? just tie it off somewhere? How do you think the car will react if it senses a bunch of fresh o2 since that NB will be tied off, outside of the exhaust. So, putting the WB in place of the NB wont do anything, since the car is going to dump a **** ton of fuel to compensate for all the fresh o2 its sensing.

If the car has rear o2 bungs, put the WB in there.

99FormulaM6, actually I have written in the very first post that I am going to disconnect it

And this is actually my question - how will PCM react to this under full load (when it's not trying to maintain 14.7:1).

The PCM needs input from a narrow band O2 to run in closed loop. You have two options.

1. Run in open loop and disable any codes from the front O2 sensors.

2. Run widebands and have them send a narrow band signal to the factory PCM.

Personally I'd go with option 2. But be prepared to replace your widebands every year or two. They don't have the lifespan of the narrowbands.

How do I feed wideband signal to PCM? Is it enough to connect 0-1V output of wideband to PCM, or will PCM still sense that O2 is disconnected (heater circuit not working or smth. like that)?

Can anyone tell me how should I connect WBO2 narrowband output to PCM?

OK I've connected WBO2 ground input to tan wire of stock sensor, cut purple wire and connected it to WBO2 signal output. Left all other wires connected, stock O2 just sitting under the car.
No SES light, and cruising it shows AFR floating around 14.7:1, so I guess it worked
