while you have the front cover off, check and make sure the drive gear is on the crank that turns the pump. i've seen motors come from rebuild shops and factory engines missing a part or two.

What is easier for you? Taking the oil pan off or the intake off? You said it was a short block which usually means rotating assembly only. So that is why i was asking if you out on the intake. You never know, the sending unit could be bad? And as far as the oil pump, could have sucked up some debris or what not.. dunno if you cleaned it up really good

it should have a sleeve type gear that slides onto the crank before the balancer goes on. it has squared shaped teeth that the iol pump slides over, and then just your o ring and pick up tube. the tube may have had trash or a bolt or nut stuck in it and blocking proper oil flow also.

Remember i am going out on a limb

you should make sure the sending unit is plugged in, and test for continuity of the wire to the pcm and see if that's good.. Just another thought?

What about the oil galley? Is it plugged or not plugged? Are you getting oil to the heads at all? Prolly going to need to tear it apart yet again

it could also very well be a pinched wire. with the tight quarters back there it's sometimes hard to get everything out of the way.

all the wires are out of the way. no oil to the ehads, thats why im not turning it over anymore. Speed inc told me this motor was out of a 2002 ws6 and was fully function and a running shortblock so im gonna say the oil gallery is the way it should be.

Man, so bittersweet....

So the O ring thing I was talking about. I dont know for sure that it was a service bulletin, but I think I heard that somewhere.

Thicker oil pump o-ring GM# 12557752

Thats what I was talking about. It appears its more of a fix for a ticking lifter, rather than no pressure. But if your going back in for the pump, might as well while youre there.

I hear ya man.. i hope it is an o-ring..

Might also check the bypass valve.. could be stuck open or part way open. I hope that both plugs are in the front and back.. that would net you 0 oil pressure

god damn. I swear speed inc better not have sold me a motor without that ******* plug in the back there. I think im gonna start off first by checking the o-ring and the oil pump. anyone know how to check to see if the bypass valve is open or clsoed or if I can even see it?
