Exclamation XS Header problem!! I need help

Ok I went to install my headers today from XS. get them into place and the damn holes in the flange dont line up with my threaded holes on the heads. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them haha or am I the first. Thanks for any input on getting the fixed.

hahaa yeah that was me... it sucked...

good LOOKING product, horrible fitment issues. have u tried putting the y pipe on? the driver side collector is angled upwards, so ur either gonna have to have it cut and angled down, or just suck it up and have exhaust sit against the floorboard... i did the later... and it sucked cuz it was pulling 10 degrees on timing cuz it was causing the knock sensors to go haywire...

damn, that makes me worry about having mine sitting on the floorboard. I think I will pay a little visit to the welder man this week....

ohh and I didnt have any problems getting mine in, they were a breeze on jackstands too, but there is some play and you just have to put each header bolt on little by little and never screw one down a bunch before the others cuz that can cause issues. I have also heard it is better to bolt the middle ones down first.

Didn't have any issues with the flanges here. I had a TSP y pipe modified and didn't cut/weld the collector. Works fine.

No problems with the holes here either. I guess it's hit or miss with these, just like any other header.

I only ran into that problem with the rear bolts, but I figured maybe it was because I was using the stage 8's and they just didn't want to thread in the rear hole on each side, so sadly, I used a stock manifold bolt on each side... went right in and haven't had any problems at all with them.

that was my only problem though, I have no Y-pipe issues or any of the other crap people claim

Just go slow, the holes on my pacesetters were barely off if I didn't put the bolts in little by little.

and yes the second tube on the drivers side header makes it so the spark plug boot rests on it!

Just return them or exchange them from whom you bought them from. Any reputable manufacturer or dealer would take them back.

We had to elongate the ds rear bolt hole after trying it and getting the threads buggered up. Ran a tap down it, elongated the hole, and it worked out.

As for plug wires, get some MSD's. You can bend the insulators so that they clear the tubes just fine.

well the front hole and rear hole are both off on both sides. I have never had any problems with any other headers but these. Pacesetter/hooker/etc all installed perfectly. Went to install the passenger side today and they are all way off as well

Just work the holes and you'll get it straight. No argument that these headers are a PITA because of poor quality control. But you own 'em, and you'll just have to work a little extra hard to get them to fit.

Think about this ... once you get them bolted up right, then you'll find that the ds collector is jammed up against the floorpan and a whole new set of adventures will begin ...

I have XS. Get the middle bolts barely threaded, and work your way outwards. I had some issues, but made it work.

Ditch the y-pipe and get some true duals. $475 over the axle to tips. Easy.

And for the banging, put some heater hose between the body and the collector. No more banging, no more vibration. Use WD-40 to help get it in there.

And for the plug wires, lol, swap them out for some MSDs. You can bend the boots so they don't hit the primaries.

These headers are more expensive than we originally thought, lol!

I held the gaskets next to each header to make sure the holes lined up before I put them on. Everything was fine. I handed the header up from the bottom to my wife, came up top, stuck the gasket in, started a couple of bolts no problem. All the bolts except the middle ones went in smoothly. Middle ones wouldn't go in AT ALL! Turned out I had the gasket reversed. Oops! MANIFOLD side!
