Default true duels or y-pipe?

K is there a big difference in having true duels dump before axle ..compared to y-pipe with over axle. More hps with true duels?

See im about to get headers and trying to decide if i should get a y-pipe or some type of X or H pipe and dump before axle. :\

My brother has true duals on his WS6 He went from LTs ORY..Borla Cat-Back Open.....to Duals 3" with X-Pipe...Sweet chambers dumping before the axle. Its sounds awsome and pulls harder....BUT he scrapes SOMETIMES.

OP where in Louisiana, are you from ? Yea I'm debating the whole TD's idea, I actually have an SLP dual/dual sitting in my garage. Not sure what I want to do just yet.

If your car is stock ride height and you have absolutely no intention of lowering it, it's not bad. You run the risk scraping on hard jounces, and you have to be more careful on speed bumps. I had them on my car and had to go back to a y pipe due to clearance. My car is lowered 2 inches.

I just got TD's on my T/A and I love them. I've gone through about 7 different exhaust systems on my car and I can say that at least for me, it never sounded any good with a y-pipe unless it was really quite. If you don't mind loud and want that really mean, evil, approaching death sound from your exhaust then go TD's. My setup is 40 series Flowmaster dumped before the rear axle. My car is also lowered 2 inches and the flows are 4 inches thick, but I don't have any problems scraping except on ubsurdly large speed bumps. If you have an ORY then it's about the same ground clearence.

P.S. I'm old school so i don't wanna hear any crap about how flowmasters kill performance. NOTHING sounds like FLOWS!

By the looks of your sig, you should invest in some LT headers first.

If you wanna go the H route, it'll need to be a custom job. I believe theres a flowmaster H thats popular with a few H-pipe setups I've seen. But the TSP kit is a very nice bang for the buck and you can install it in your driveway.

what is the TSp? I just want something that i can attatch to the headers...then add the mufflers and be done wit it. I dont wanna have to weld a whole bunch of peices to make an h or X... I want it all together and ready to mount.

Duals will always out flow a Y-pipe setup, but the biggest advantage of duals is the SOUND.

i went with 3" td x pipe setup I HATE THE CLEARANCE...I have a ds loop and the x merge lays rite under it everywhere else tucked up..
I was runnin a 3" ory pipe setup with a single cutout.....the sound is better with the duals but they are too loud for va and have got to come off....Im goin back to the y pipe and cutout.....there wasnt very lil gains at the track either......

I got mine from Summit. I'm not pleased with the job I did putting it together. Don't get me wrong, the welds are probably the best I've ever done. The paint job came out with no runs at all! The damn thing hangs too low. I have to redo it. I guess I didn't plan very well, because the left tip now touches the ground since I took the car off the jack stands.
Glad it's not a daily driver or I'd be in a hurry to fix it.

The only difference your going to see between TD and y-pipe is the sound. If you were approaching the 400-500 hp marker then you will see a gain going to a TD set up over a y-pipe. Just depends on what you want to do with the car and how loud you want her
