Default More Power! Need more power!

Hey fellas. My stock 99 ss camaro is wicked fast from the factory, but i'm itching for more horse power and torque. I've got a budget of 1,000 bucks. what do i buy?? Thanks

Is it a A4 or a M6? If A4 throw in a PTC 3500 stall converter. If its a M6 get a decent set of headers (like coated pace setters are around $450-$500 with the y-pipe) and exhaust (Magnaflow SS exhaust for around $350-$450) and just install yourself!! Then get a tune.. MAke sure you shop around though for the best deals..

Like the other guy said...A4 or M6? If it's an M6 get a lid, headers, and some true duals.

A4, then with a lil more money you can get the same AND a converter.

Yeah i got an a6. T-56 transmission. I'd like to get some headers, but i've heard they reduce ground clearance by like and inch and a half! I drive in some parking lots with big *** speed bumps. they reallt that low? let me know fellas! Thanks.

a6, some cross-bred manumatic?

its cool, and headers arent neccisarily that bad on ground clearance. as long as you dont go with slp, there are at least 1 billion, 3hundred eighty seven thousand threads on headers and ground clearance so search that up some.

ported TB, ls6 intake, headers.

OR

look for some 243 heads or used Patriots and a used cam.. all can be had and installed for under 1k if you do the work. The 243 heads would be best. Just look for someone selling oem 243's. 500 max is the price you should pay for them or 600 for used Patriot heads.

I would definately go with some Pacesetter ceramic's and an exhaust. If you don't wanna go that route, definately a 4.10 gear.

Lid, Headers, Gears, Better flowing exhaust + muffler. [good catback or TD's] [FOR M6] ..Or: Gears, Converter, Stall.....[not all at once obviously..depending also on A4-M6 ?]

my first mods on my 01 Z28 M6 were the following:

SLP cold air package (lid, schute and bellows)
SLP loudmouth catback
hypertech w/ 180 degree thermo (bought it cheap from a friend)

I then put on a set of ET streets and ran a 12.7@108 in Bradenton Florida. It really depends on your budget and long term plans. I have since trashed the loudmouth and hypertech and upgraded substantially. But those three mods listed cost me $450 I think, and that was 4 years ago.

Biggest gain I got was on my long tube headers and a real tune with LS1Edit. However, now I believe EFI Live is the prefered tuning tool, but there are a bunch of threads on that too.
