Purchased my KOOKS today...
I just purchased my set of Kooks headers from marylandspeed today. I also have a set of true duals ready to go with them when i recieve them. I have never installed a set of headers before. Is there any good tips that i should know before attempting to install the headers? Thanks

santiago, on your 408 build, did you go with the l76 intake or the fast? I am currently about to get the 408 longblock and i can't decide on which to get.
Are the headers that much of a pain to install? Also ive seen where people have said to install new motor mounts at the same time.

make sure you have the usuall, lots of penetrating oil, breaker bars, not sure what sizes but make sure you have a bunch of SAE and metric sockets and alot of patience. mine took about 5 hours and everything went pretty smooth. someone there to hold the headers from the bottom never hurts either. good luck!

Have plenty of different length socket extensions. The #8 header bolt was by far the worst. I backed it out too far before i realized the wrench was jammed against somethin on the fenderwell. couldnt get the wrench or bolt out. I think i ended up partially stripping the #8 header bolt back in. Ill find out if I ever decide to do a head swap. Do you have an impact gun? Just bust the cat nuts off with it. Having a friend will help a lot. I did most of mine myself with the ex GF holding the new headers in place. And gettin her to do even that much was like trying to convince her to give up some bung action.... except i did get something accomplished with the headers.

Like they said above, patience is the most important thing. Don't rush to get it done. Towards the end of the install you will really want to finish and will contemplate taking shortcuts. Don't do that. Make sure you have plenty of time and if you need to take a couple days to make sure everything is right, then just take the extra time. When I installed my headers it was much easier than any of the LT1's I've installed headers on.
Good luck dude!

Get the poly mounts! I just had a set of kooks long tube headers installed and they bang on my floorboard! The guys at Livernois Motorsports neglected to tell me about changing my stock mounts till after I had them installed! They are so much easier to install while doing the headers! now I have to pay another shop to install the poly mounts!
