Default Another DIY Ram Air...

I had to replace my water pump so while I was waiting I decided to try the 4" hose idea ran from the camaro bumper holes behind the grille to the airbox. EXCEPT I USED 6" HAHA.

I cut away all the metal under the airbox (grinder with cutting blades) from the support brace except for a small portion on the front and it is still rock solid. Also keep in mind i have no bumper supports, ac, washer fluid, hood latch, etc.

I sealed it all up with silicone and made the plate out of sheet metal to hold the hose with basic tools (dremel, snips). Used 6" hose i bought from Lowes and painted it black. For anyone looking to do this theres a 100 different ways to go about it, its all just trial and error and how you want it to look, originally I was going to make a ram air box around the hose as well but I gave up on fabricating that as it would have taken me a week lol.

So here we go with some pics, used my cell camera as my wife took mine today. They are small...sorry.

As an added bonus I just added my tranny cooler in between the two hoses at an angle (from the hood latch to the lower radiator frame) to pick up max airflow off the air dam deflector. Was a pain to run it to there but looks much better.

I was gonna say the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if in the summer your not getting a lot of cool air from the a/c.
The setup looks good though. Wish us goat's had something to make a functional ram air.

Ya heat soak will definitely not be an issue.

Got the 6" tubing at lowes.

Gains are ".1 e.t. and 1 mph" supposedly. Its definitely better than what it was....

i gained around 20-22rwhp over stock with no ram air at all...(ie including free ram air)...i have proved it in multiple past posts if you are that interested search my name i am too lazy to look it up...also gained around 10-12rwhp over a FTRA setup...i used to have that too before the huge ram air

How does a dyno pick up those kind of numbers considering you arent moving forward "ramming" air in there?
