Default exhaust cut-out location?

i'm gonna buy an exhaust cut-out soon basically cause it's a cheep way to improve sound a little with minimal if any gains. i'm really just going for sound right now.

my question is would it be better to have the cut-out weilded right after the y-pipe or right before the muffler? or would it really matter one way or another?

wouldn't matter a whole lot. It would be louder inside the car closer to the y pipe.

I had mine on the I part in the back before it goes over the differential(near the back of the door). It might be better up in the front but youll hear more inside. I felt alot more power when I had mine. It varies on the car though.

If you look underneath the car, at the I-Pipe (pipe connecting Y to catback) you'll see a nice area in the body where it will fit perfectly! hope this helps

Mine was installed on the i-pipe just under the passenger side rear seat....it tucks in nicely there so I didn't encounter any clearance issues and you can run the wires through the grommet that is located close by (if you're installing an electric cutout).

You want the cut out to be welded right at the I pipe bends to the axle just like it shows in the picture.

Thats where I was going to put mine, but if you closed it, it would seem that there would be a lot of back pressure, since all of the exhaust would be trying to go out the blocked path (best route) Wouldn't that mess the car up? Not to mention kill a lot of hp with it blocked...

That is where I put mine, but now that with the 9" rear, I think I'll have to relocate it.

Cutouts give decent gains. I'm cam only and gained 7rwhp and 6rwtq with the cutout open than going through the Magnaflows.
